• AMAZING tour, arranged by an amazing company owner, with amazing guides!

  My spouse and I found Cyclota, and its marvelous owner Tomas, from Tripadvisor. We are so glad we did! We have cycled all over the world, and Colombia was on our bucket list. Tomas did an amazing job communicating with us and customizing our 7-day tour, riding around Bogota area 1 day then the "La Colonizacion" tour from Medellin. We were happy to meet Tomas our first night in Bogota, he is enthusiastic and a bicycling fanatic. Our first guided tour (which ended up being private; just us), and fantastic in every way. Our cycling guide, Paola, is an incredibly gifted person and cyclist. She speaks fluent English and with her background in Biology, is very knowledgeable about the plant and animal life, as well as the history and culture of all the areas we visited. Oscar, our driver, is an amazing person and a very kind man with an amazing sense of humor. He provided support beyond any expectations. He selected our cafe's for lunch and restaurants each night and all were amazing local and international cuisine. More than guides, they became our friends and sharing meals with them each day was an absolute delight. The tours were full of incredible scenery and climbs, and the highlight was our stay high up a mountain ridge in Salgar area at La Manchuria coffee farm. All accommodations were lovely and comfortable. Although a very experienced road cyclist, it was early in our biking season and with the difficulty of the climbs, I opted for an e-road bike which was light and with some assist for hardest part of the climbs- a great work out none-the-less! My spouse opted for regular bike, which was a good quality bicycle that Tomas arranged. All our needs were taken care of from meeting the team at the Bogota airport until we said farewell in Medellin, and the pricing for a private tour was a great value for what we received. We want to arrange another tour (the Cafe de Colombia) with our adult children in 2024- go with Cyclota, and you will fall in love with Colombia too!

  

  

  

• Climbing out of Medellin with Daniel

  My solo ride with Daniel was an incredible experience! We started by climbing out of Medellin near downtown and within about 20-30 mins were up into the hills on quiet roads with amazing views and beautiful scenery. The climb was pretty long but the grade was consistent and not too steep...We traversed some rolling hills for 30 mins or so and then after some instruction from Daniel, descended back down Los Palmas into Medellin. Daniel was an amazing guide - these are clearly roads he knows like the back of his hand and he looked out for me every step of the way, including providing extra water, snacks, and some local tips. Descending the 2500 or so feet down Los Palmas at the end of the ride was thrilling and fun and Daniel was great about letting me know when a tight corner was coming up (double chicken wings!). It was magical riding the hallowed hills/mountains surrounding Medellin and I am so appreciative of Tomas and Daniel for making it happen on short notice!
