• Amazing All-in-One Day Tour of Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, Wine Tasting, Puffing Billy & Penguin Parade

  We booked this tour with Puffing Billy one-way ticket, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, Wine Tasting at Rochford Wine Estate, and Philip Island for Penguin Parade via Agoda Activities, which turned out to be also via Viator and operated by Wild Oz tours. I was with my cousin, and we were so glad to book all these activities in just one day, because it is our common available whole day schedule and we don't mind that the day is going to be packed from 11 am to before 12 midnight that day. Since I booked via Agoda - there are many booking parties in between if you book from there - I had to make sure our reservation was in place for couple of times, and Wild Oz did confirm and reply with important reminders via email quickly both times so we were assured. At the day of the tour, we came in just in time before 11 AM, and apparently the tour bus picked up 2 other tourists not meant for the tour (even though they said they were for the tour) but came back for us in just 5 minutes, so this was no big deal to us. We went on the tour, enjoyed shopping at the chocolaterie in Yarra Valley. We also availed of additional 15 AUD fee for wine tasting, which was all worth it if you ask me since these were about a dozen of wines to taste! The reason as well that we booked this tour is that my cousin wanted Puffing Billy train ticket and the website ran out of tickets for this day so fast. But, it turns out, this one-way option from Lakeside to Belgrave was better, coupled with some more tour / itineraries, because the train ride - which was very wonderful and exquisite by the way - can also be exhausting and tiring if done with a return ticket. One way is already at 1 hour ride sitting on the wooden window sill of the trains. So, the one-way ticket was just right for us, and not too tiring. The penguins were quite shy though during the Penguin Parade at Philip Island, so we only saw a few and from a far, but this was okay as this can be expected / can't be helped as well and depends on the weather and their mood. We went back to the city with no further delay or fuss just around 11:45 PM, so we were able to catch the free tram back to hour hotel. Our tour guide and driver William was very accommodating, friendly, and very knowledgable about the itinerary. He can be reached both via mobile and via Whatsapp. He even advised us what side to sit on during the Puffing Billy ride, and took videos/photos of us guests as well. He seems very kind and patient even if the itinerary is expectedly tight, if guests are running late to the bus, giving us advice in advance and let us roam freely while striking a balance of timekeeping for the tour as well. So even if the itinerary is tight, I didn't actually feel that we were being rushed at all. To be fair, after all, we all got back to the city on time or in the original estimated time. :) Overall, I would recommend this to my friends who will be visiting Melbourne and who would like to efficiently experience or visit these sites in just one day.

  Lovely trip but little information given en route and we would have liked to see the Koalas rather than the chocolate or the wine. The evening to see the penguins was very chilly so would have been nice to have been given a blanket or shawl. This was a long day trip so water should have been provided and a scheduled lunch stop.

  Loved the experience of Puffing Billy and Penguin Parade Our guide was not very informative along the way. The van was old cramped and very dirty inside and out. We had to pay extra for the wine tasting and the Koala park. We were very rushed at both places. Got to Koala park just as it was ready to close. The time on this excursion was very poorly planned

  A great trip made even better with the company of tourists and our tour guide Daniel Huang. Daniel was so good, well informed, a great entertainer, would do anything to make it enjoyable and was a great driver. Daniel made the day sooo good. Thank you Daniel.

  Too many people compared to the penguin route. Unfortunately, they also banned taking photos after sunset.

  Very beautiful view around the winery, many cangaroos around. The penguins are so cute, and there are more than 1000 penguins coming home last night. The driver guide is very kind and professional, have been doing the tour for decades. Worth to have a go.

  We went on the Puffin Billy, Yara Valley wine and chocolate, and the penguin parade tour. We had a great day out and our tour guide William was very informative and made sure we were looked after. If I had one complaint for the day it was that our ride on Puffin Billy was too late at 4.30, as it didn't give us enough time on Phillip island. Make sure you choose a tour with an earlier train or book in summer when the penguins come in later.

  The experience was amazing. Unfortunately for other guests who don't follow the rules, I was disgusted in the amount of ppl still taking photos and moving around when strickly asked to stay seated and No photos for the Protection of the penguins. Staff were amazing, educational, kind compassionate, absolutely amazing.
