  This was a very long trip. Close to 600 kms so be prepared. And the coaches drive very fast. The boat trip was excellent. Exactly two hours. Our trip used one of the two larger vessels so a much smoother voyage. Some vessels are smaller and some do shorter trips. Both coach driver and ship’s captain were very informative. There is a lot of confusion as to which coach you are catching as there are around 20 heading to the same destination. It would have been so easy to say look for the blue one with Pure written on the side.

  This trip was absolutely fantastic. Milford Sound itself and the boat cruise is spectacular, but the drive to and from Piopiotahi is also incredible, with a host of other-worldly views. Our driver, Naoki, was a delight. He was informative, friendly and helpful throughout the day. What is more, despite challenging weather conditions and some narrow, winding roads, I always felt 100% safe on the coach due to his excellent driving. I would recommend this trip to anyone. It's a long day with approx 8 hours on the road, but there are multiple opportunities to stop and stretch your legs in the most beautiful surroundings on the way to Milford Sound, and a pit-stop at Te Anau on the way back.

  If you have travelled half way around the globe to get to New Zealand, then travelling another 300km each way to see Milford Sound is a must do. It is a long day, advertised as 12-13 hours and yes it is. However, particularly if you have been the designated driver on a holiday, let the bus take the strain. The road from Queenstown is challenging but more importantly you will miss all of the fantastic scenery you pass through. We travelled with Pure Milford. Our driver, Andreas, was extremely efficient and informative. Plenty of historical and geological info as we passed through the countryside. The Pure Milford boat was a well-equipped and stable caterman. There was plenty of space onboard both inside and outside. We had a showery trip, but even so spent most of the time on deck taking in the sights. Packed lunch on the boat consisted of a hot pie, crisps, apple, museli bar, chocolate and biscuits. There was a coffee stop on the way out and back, this can be busy as all of the operators seem to use the same cafe. You pay for this service. When on the bus, put down your tech and take in the views, you won’t be back again.

  Loved our trip! Our driver Scarlett was knowledgeable, funny and a great driver! We did the early tour and got picked up from Queenstown at 5:45am, Scarlett was efficient and checked us onto the bus immediately and had us in assigned seats already which was helpful. The coach bus itself was comfortable, clean and perfect for the tour. So comfortable in fact I fell asleep for 70% of the bus trip to and from! The views were beautiful and Scarlett clearly was very knowledgeable about the areas we were passing and shared her facts and history along the whole trip. There were lots more stops than I expected which was fantastic as I was initially thinking of driving ourselves so we could experience everything along the way, but we managed to stop at many scenic stops on the way. The Milford sound cruise was beautiful of course, we saw dolphins towards the end of the boat ride, beautiful waterfalls and great commentary from the staff. It also came with hot pies for lunch, and some snacks as well which was great for the long drive back and the cold weather. My advice is to rug up! I thought I had enough layers but still felt very cold on the top of the boat. Luckily the boat also comes with complimentary hot drinks to keep you toasty.   Other travelers should know that this is a very long tour , but it’s well worth it. The fields are beautiful. The stops are beautiful. The guide was great and informative.

  George is an exceptional, skilled driver. Maybe work on the road rage? The excursion was lovely and worth the drive. Everything, including the weather, was tip top.

  The driver was amazing, the bus had nice windows and the Cruise was stunning! I would recommend for solo-travelling or groups! Suited for everyone

  Great service. Flexible pick up. Carl was knowledgeable and humorous driver. Boat trip was great. Warning be prepared to get wet when getting 'glacial facial' It is a long journey but spectacular. Only slight negative was meal, which serviceable.
