Milford Sound

Take a stunning Scenic Flight to Milford Sound from Queenstown, with our fly cruise fly package including a 2-hour Cruise. Milford Sound is New Zealand's premier tourist destination, and the sheer scale and staggering beauty of the fiord are experienced from all viewpoints. We will fly you from Queenstown over the Southern Alps with breathtakingly spectacular and endless panoramic views of lakes, forested river valleys, waterfalls, jagged razor-backed ridge lines and snow covered peaks. After landing at Milford we will choose whether to take the shuttle bus or, if time permits, take you on a short walk through the bush and foreshore to the cruise boat. Once on the boat, you will take a leisurely cruise along the whole length of the fiord. After the cruise, your pilot will escort you back to the aircraft for the return flight to Queenstown along a different flight path.

This was a fantastic experience. All the staff were so helpful and Andrew, our pilot, put us at ease. The flight was beyond words being able to see the mountains and lakes from above. The catamaran was spotless and the staff on board were informative and helpful. This is a trip of a lifetime and if I could I would give it 10 stars.

We had a great experience, every step was explained to us and there was minimal waiting. Very efficiently run with friendly and informative staff. The flight was really thrilling, worth the price alone! Our pilot was Luke, who made us feel very safe and even doubled up as our tour guide in the air. If you can handle an early start, we recommend going for the first tour of the day which starts with a pickup at 7am. We were back in Queenstown to grab a Fergburger for lunch 🙂

Absolutely breathtaking way to explore Milford Sound. Our pilot Luke was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. Provided a wonderful tour of the sound and the cruise was also great. The captain was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot.

This was the coolest tour we did, by far, while in NZ for two weeks. We were scheduled on the 0800 flight, but it was canceled due to weather. We were able to reschedule on the 1030 flight to Milford Sound and it was amazing. We were on one of their 13-passenger Cessna Grand Caravns piloted by Andrew. The scenery along the way to/from Milford is spectacular. We couldn’t stop taking photos. The organization with the cruise ship was seemless with a short bus ride from/to the tiny Milford airport to/from the cruise port. The cruise was excellent with scenery of the snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, the Tasman Sea and some fur seals. We would highly recommend this tour vs. a long bus ride each way. We’ve heard the road is treacherous, but the flight was delightful and it doesn’t take up as much of your time.

From Queenstown to Milford Sound, you have two options: a 6-hour coach ride or a 40-minute flight. Given we had already traveled quite a bit by coach, we wanted to opt for the flight in both directions. Some said the coach ride was beautiful and worth it, but after taking the flight, I can't see how it would be better than the flight! Just an absolutely beautiful trip from start to finish, flying among the mountaintops. True South Scenic Flights did an excellent job. One thing to note is that cancelations during the spring season are not uncommon due to weather conditions. Our morning flight was canceled, but True South had the process in this situation down, asking people in the order in which they booked what they wanted to do: book on a later flight when available (we ended up on the afternoon flight the same day) or a full refund. We were fortunate enough that the weather cleared up and the afternoon trip was breathtaking.

We had a great journey from start to finish. The whole team were friendly and professional. Our pilot, Tanmay, was fist class and did a great job explaining the sights on the way to Milford Sound and back to Queenstown. The boat cruise was amazing. Stunning and majestic scenery. What more can you say other than being lucky with the weather. Thanks True South! A journey we shall always remember.
