This Monkey Home and Damajagua waterfalls tour offers pick up at all Puerto Plata hotels, as well as both Taino Bay and Amber Cove cruise ports.
A tour to keep an eye out for wildlife such as squirrel monkeys as you go. Then stop and, under the supervision of the staff, place a plate of fruit for the monkeys to approach you.
After your visit to Monkey Home, we will then go all the way to Damajagua Waterfalls, where you will be able to take the tour in 7 different pools, jumping and sliding. Throughout the tour, see for yourself how a local lives in the area without electricity or running water. Also learn about the history and cultural traditions of this Caribbean island.

Damajagua Waterfalls
The Damajagua Waterfalls, also known as the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, are a series of natural waterfalls and pools located in the northern part of the Dominican Republic, near Puerto Plata. Visitors can hike through the jungle, jump, slide, and swim through these cascading falls, making it a popular spot for adventure tourism and eco-tourism. The name “Damajagua” refers to the river that feeds the waterfalls.

You’ll visit Monkey Home where you can feed monkeys fruit. Enjoy a smooth ride over to Moneky Home and enjoy a ride with special drivers that can speak English. Keep an eye out for wildlife, such as squirrel monkeys, as you go. Then, stop and with the supervision of staff, put out a plate of fruit to get the monkeys to come to you.

5.00Epic! Fun day at Damajagua Waterfalls 💦 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We hiked through the jungle, jumped, slid and swam through rushing waterfalls. Our tour guide, Yeury was amazing and so was our photographer at the falls, Montana.

5.00Awesome experience, taxi waiting to greet us at the port. Super friendly drivers to show you the area and get you to the experiences and guide you. You will not be standing around wondering where you need to go, and they get you back to the port with plenty of time. Thank yall for the awesome memories.

5.00Top notch tour. So easy to find them from the cruise ship. Darwin was our driver and told us all about the DR. Very organized, clean & professional. The Monkey House was adorable and the guys loved the monkeys. The waterfalls was quite a hike, but doable and beautiful! Felix was a great guide, keeping us together and safe, and we paid extra to have our own family photographer throughout all the falls.

2.00Monkey & Waterfall tour was a disappointment: 7 Waterfalls were advertised, we experienced 1 Waterfall and three short slides into water. The monkey encounter was a large cage you entered with monkeys contained inside the cage; very boring as you sat on a bench and the monkeys climbed on you when fed.

4.00Waterfalls are amazing and worth the wait to walk there and to tolerate the lines. It was a bit crowded but handled well by the employees, who are happy and having a great time. Definitely not a trip for someone who has trouble walking or going up inclines and climbing down ladders. Monkeys are so cute, and Chandei was a sweetheart. Also get an opportunity to try coffee and cigars there. Not sure why we didn’t make it to Puerta Plata - was some confusion on who was on what tour that caused a brief delay, and pick up was delayed an hour too in the morning. But we got paired with a nice couple who didn’t do the monkeys but went to a restaurant and then we all went back to the ship.

5.00The escorts were extremely organized and professional and the experience was very safe and fun!! I was surprised that we had our own personal tour guide for the excursions. It was wonderful! Our driver waited with our belongings the entire time we did the tour and then took us to the next place. It was an exceptional experience!

5.00My mom and I booked an excursion for each island we went to visit, and I’ll have to say that this excursion for me personally, took the cake! I loved every moment of it from the hike through the waterfalls with Fluersiel, Felix, Berny, Josh ( I think his name was & a few other gentlemen as well) , to feeding and holding the monkeys. As a little girl I always loved the squirrel monkeys when I would see them in the zoo, and now as a 30 year-old woman, I felt like that little girls dream came true on that very day. Miguel was our guide’s name during the visit with the monkey's, and you can tell how much he loves his job and the animals he works with. The amount of care and love shown from him for these animals will be something I will never forget and I look forward to the next time I come to visit and can share the same love and appreciation with my other friends too. Runners Adventures tours is a great company to go through and you will not be disappointed. You may hear a random bird call, horse sound, or one of them imitating some sort of animal, but that’s what makes it fun! I would encourage any one visiting the D.R. To go and see these lovely animals and see the natural beauty of this island.

5.00All the guides were very friendly and very fun to be around. They w we re helpful from beginning to end. The waterfalls were a bit of a hike. Lots of stairs. The path was clear ( not climbing rocks or trudging through mud or anything). The waterfalls were beautiful and tons of fun. The monkey tour was great. I was the only person there other than the guide. The monkeys will be all over you. Im talking head, shoulders, knees and toes. You're going to get peed on. Don't wear anything you're attached to. It's coming back stinky. But its worth it <3
