Pompeii Archaeological Park
After pickup from your hotel or the Naples train station, take a 30-minute drive to Pompeii, an ancient Roman city that was entirely destroyed by the sudden eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. The largest archaeological site in Europe, today Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you arrive, your guide will pick up your group’s pre-ordered tickets and lead you on a 2-hour walking tour of the fascinating grounds. Witness the destruction first-hand as you visit Pompeii’s most famous sites, including the Forum, the Thermal Baths, Vetti's House and the Lupanare brothel, giving you a glimpse into daily life during the Pax Romana. Today you can see shapes of objects — even bodies — that were buried beneath the volcanic ash and pumice.
Vesuvius National Park
After your tour, enjoy a pizza lunch with your group followed by some free time to browse the shops. Then board the coach and drive 40 minutes to legendary Mt Vesuvius. Embark on a moderate hike up the volcano with your guide. When you reach the summit at 3,900 feet (1,200 meters), you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the picturesque Bay of Naples from east to west. Peer down into the crater and see plumes of steam issuing from the sleeping, but still active, volcano! There is a rest point where you can choose to wait for your group if you do not wish to climb all the way to the top, but the hike is worth the effort. After your Mt Vesuvius hike, relax on the drive back to Naples in the early evening.

5.00A little rainy today, but wow what an adventure. This was one of the tours we were most looking forward to and it didn’t disappoint. Our guide Maria was outstanding. Thank you for a great time.
A less than ideal day

1.00I’m going to start with that I’ve never given a bad review for any tour I’ve booked on Viator or GetYourGuide… until today. This was a very disappointing day. The weather is NO fault of the operator but how they respond to the weather IS down to the operator. The rain was so torrential that everyone was soaked. Shoes were full of water and could be poured out. We managed 80% of Pompeii before it became IMPOSSIBLE and we had to run for cover under a kiosk. It was so bad they had to batten down the hatches. I understand you operate no matter rain or shine, but this was a yellow weather warning with sheet rain deluges. We asked them surely Vesuvius would be cancelled. Nope. We were told that Vesuvius would still continue, despite the fact that most of the group wanted to call it a day and go home. We were shepherded to a dreadful restaurant called Ristorante Suisse and told that the tour would continue no matter what, even if it’s a mudslide and a danger. The restaurant was awful. The servers were rude, vile and aggressive. The actual meal was minimal and very basic. It wasn’t particularly pleasurable, and god forbid you wanted to use the toilet more than once - because you weren’t allowed to. The minibus to Vesuvius was scary, the driver didn’t want to keep his eyes on the road, he was too busy gossiping with the tour guide, at one point he started using his mobile phone mid drive up the mountain and was showing the tour guide his videos!! He got very close to other vehicles - at one point I thought he was going to crash. The Vesuvius trip itself, we were dumped and left to our own devices. Basically, “we knows it’s super muddy and the hike is not going to be doable but we got you here so it’s your problem and no refunds”. It was very slippery and the very top was closed due to the bad weather. Honestly such a dreadful experience. I would NEVER recommend anyone to go with this operator for any tour ever again. TL;DR? No care for safety, poor food, bad service, miserable day
