The family who welcomed us into their village were so lovely & kind to us. They gave us a tour, played games with us, did pottery with us, showed their local medicinal plants & showed us their cave. We were very well looked after & it was a privilege to meet everyone. Thank you! - Fiona & Alana

I wanted to do a last minute getaway to Ila Safaris and Zambia Explorers made it happen! The experience is always amazing at Ila even last time I booked with Zambia Explorers and they don’t disappoint! I love the entire experience at Ila from the moment you get there the hospitality is just incredible and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. I stayed for 2 nights but it wasn’t enough! My highlights of the trip was I finally got to see a leopard! I feel like the value for money was there. Overall atmosphere was peaceful and the lodge was quiet so made it even better! The meals at Ila are so healthy and portion sizes are just right! If anyone is looking for a solo getaway Ila safaris is best for it! Thank you to Zambia Explorers for their service and look forward to plenty more in the future!

I went to Mulube Village with my mum, honestly expecting a typical tourist show—something staged and superficial. But from the moment we were picked up at our hotel, I knew this would be different. The three guides were so warm and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed, from cold water to snacks, throughout the entire day. When we arrived at the village, I was completely shocked. This wasn’t a performance for visitors; it was real life. We were welcomed into a family’s home as if we were old friends, and the authenticity of the experience was overwhelming. Everyone in the village was involved—our guides shared stories, the family showed us around, and the villagers were just as excited to have us there as we were to be there. The highlight was visiting the caves, where the villagers accompanied us, helping us climb and ensuring our safety. I don’t think you can find an experience like this anywhere else in the world. And the food they prepared for us was absolutely delicious, a perfect end to an unforgettable day. We spent a full day there, and the price per person was more than fair for everything we experienced. It was raw, real, and so much more meaningful than I ever expected. If you’re looking for something truly authentic, this is it.

What a phenomenal experience, I can very highly recommend! From start to finish, everything about this tour was outstanding. The guides were just fantastic, the people in the village very friendly, and all the things that you get to do and see really leave an impression. It starts by a short drive to the village, it is about 45 minutes from Lusaka. You drive down a scenic road, and then last few minutes get off the main road to get to the village. And – this is a real village, no touristy things, no staged stuff, no pressure to buy things (there is nothing to buy actually 😊). It is a small village of about 8 households. When we got there, we relaxed a bit, got to meet and talk to the locals, etc. Then, you walk around the village, talk to the people how much or little you want to. I asked them about their everyday life, tools they use, things they do, etc. Everyone is super friendly and engaging, but otherwise just going about their daily lives. Then, a short but scenic walk to the cave, with an impromptu lesson on local plants and herbs and how they are used. Then, a tour of the cave which was amazing. The cave is large, so it is about 45 minutes – 1 hour tour. There are lots of fruit bats, completely harmless, and seeing them up close was unforgettable. Apparently, there were bushmen that lived in the cave a while ago, and it is still considered a shrine, so you hear about that too. After that we walked back to the village, for lunch and more interaction with the villagers. We were offered some local food, but if you are not into that no worries – before you get to the village there is a quick stop at a large deli/supermarket where you can get whatever you would like to eat fresh (all included in the price of the tour). We then had some time to play local games, do a pottery class, and then hear about the history of the village. All super interesting and engaging. On the way back, I decided on the fly that I would like to make a stop at the Lusaka National Park. And this gets me back to the tour guides, who were just amazing! They fully accommodated this, got in touch with the rangers, and we made a short detour to the park. We went for a ride around the park, and went to see white rhinos. You get to walk very close to them, and just observe them in their natural habitat. Absolutely majestic! We then went back to Lusaka, got there in the afternoon, so you still have the evening to do whatever else you want to do. Let me also mention that I was the only person on this tour – they told me they usually do small groups, but can accommodate anything. Even though I was on my own, everything felt exceptionally friendly and safe. Truly great experience, and such friendly and nice people all around!

Such a wonderful experience. The locals were very nice at the village and all around the staff and guides were very helpful and entertaining. We played games with the kids, danced, made pottery, and learn how to play traditional Zambian games. The bat cave was the cherry on top to this trip. Overall, it was a once-in-a lifetime experience you should'nt miss out on.

I had an excellent experience with Vishnal and Kavina in the Lusaka National Park and Mulube Village. We saw rhinos very close with the rangers in the National Park, and I really enjoyed the displays at the Elephant Orphanage. The visit to the village provided an insight into rural village life, and was done in a very respectful way. An excellent day out!

A beautiful day spent in this village where people live in almost autarky. People are very welcoming and as curious about us as we are about them. It’s not a trick for tourists even if they receive regular visits. Earthen huts and straw roofs, fields that allow them to feed and sell a little at the market. Some pottery activities, a mechanical pump installed by the government, that's the scenery. The agency is very friendly and caring and had the idea to organize activities such as an introduction to pottery and local play, which allows sharing.
