Quite the hike to the monkeys. The monkeys act like you are invisible. Calming experience on my trip.

Great day out. It is a long day but absolutely worth it! Walk to get to monkey park is about 45 mins (if average fitness and uphill (although gentle for most of the way). Regular stops that break up the long journey and plenty of time to enjoy everything. We saw so many monkeys! They were everywhere and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Lunch was delicious!

Departed Tokyo at 8.00am and arrived back at 7.45pm. The bus trip to the destination is LOOOONG (approx. 4 hours) and an additional 45 mins for lunch. Once arriving at the Snow Monkey Park, there is still an additional 2 -3 km's of walking before seeing a wonderful spectacle. Monkeys galore and all very playful. Because of the distance away from Tokyo, we didn't seem to have enough time to enjoy being amongst the monkeys. They seemed to be full of energy. The "English speaking" guides onboard the bus tried very hard to keep us entertained and did a good job with explanations etc. Our trip was the day after a lot of snow and therefore the walking trail was very slippery and muddy, thus, a slow and exhausting walk. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

It should be described as hike and Snow monkeys. Challenging 45 minute hike and very rushed. Not relaxing from that point of you. Return directions to location of bus. Both on the way there and the return trip
