  We were able to get free tickets for this adventure. The general admission gives you admitance to the main level of the boat. It gets very crowded. We upgraded to the VIP, which gave access to the top level, one drink and food item and a picture. The boat itself is fair. Tour guide did a great job explaing everything amd you can actually hear her through the speakers

  Boat was nice and enjoyed the ride. Only complaint was that the sound system was lacking and where we were at on the boat we could not hear the commentary from the tour guide throughout the tour.

  Excellent trip down the Hudson from ~34th street to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island and up the East River just past the Brooklyn Bridge. Al, our narrator-guide was excellent, as enjoyable as he was informative

  At boarding you are informed around half the boat will be out of bounds unless you pay another $40 each to upgrade to VIP status, no mention of this when booking. Also all bags are searched to make sure no food or drink is taken on board (water ok), I actually saw the crew confiscate 2 pepperami sticks from a guy in front of me, lacking in class ! Otherwise we covered the advertised route and saw what we wanted to see so that part was ok, although on our trip the boat wasn't overly busy so the apartheid system didn't really lessen our experience

• Expect to pay more if you want to sit in the most desirable parts of the boat.

  This experience came highly recommended and I wonder if ownership has chanted, because it wasn't great. My biggest complaint was the main level seating inside with clean windows and the best views were reserved for VIP customers- a $35-40 up charge you learn about while standing in line. It looks like recent customers weren't even offered seating without paying more- that was not the case for us, but it was cold and most folks were inside in the "basement " of the boat. The windows were foggy due to the proximity to the water and the views were limited. Not a single person paid the extra charge so much of the boat was unoccupied. The other thing I found annoying was it seemed like the person giving commentary was plugging certain activities – advertising for their business like an area where you can golf and practice your swing on the west lower waterfront. All of the people working on the boat were very courteous and polite and I I'm sure have nothing to do with the policies forced upon them. When I went back to look at their website, nowhere did I see that customers should expect to pay another $35 to sit in the more desirable parts of the boat.

  Crowded experience with people standing in front of everyone. We did upgrade for the less crowded option but it did cost a lot extra for the experience.

  Generally a good, informative tour. However, purchasing an upgrade that makes ticket price 2x to sit indoors is shameful. I would not recommend anyone to take this tour in cold weather. A ticket on the boat is a ticket on the boat! This boat line should be ashamed to do that to passengers.

  Seating is very limited. They rope off the 2nd floor inside and the top of the boat for VIP. They try to sell you on VIP when you are waiting in line. The regular area inside is horrible with a couple of folding chairs , most people are sitting in the floor and windows so dirty you have trouble seeing out. They have an outside part in the back of the boat on the 2nd level for regular ticket holders, no seating there either. Total money grab experience. I’d recommend finding another boat tour.
