A lavishly decorated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Toshogu is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The shrine features intricate carvings, including the famous "See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil" monkey trio.

This was a wonderful way to see the sights of Nikko. The area itself is really beautiful - Chuzenji Lake and the Kegon Waterfall were spectacular spots. We followed that up with a Yuba lunch, which was really interesting. And Kaori did a terrific job of showing us around the Toshogu shrine and explaining the significance of various aspects of the complex. It is a great way to see and learn about Nikko and Shintoism in practice.
