Before you step into our cozy Mercedes 4x4 van, our expert guides scout the evening’s weather, space, and road conditions to select the perfect viewing location.

Leaving Tromsø behind, we’ll journey through the stunning Arctic landscape. At our destination, unwind by a crackling fire with hot beverages, cookies, and traditional Norwegian grilled pølse i brød (sausage) hot dogs. Our guide will share fascinating stories and insights about the Aurora and Northern Norway, answering any questions you have.

When the Northern Lights appear, our guides will capture beautiful portrait photos of you beneath the vibrant sky. A timelapse video will document your evening under the Arctic stars, even if the Aurora is elusive.

It was amazing not only because of the great northern lights but for our wonderful and kind host Oli and Ryan. They provide a great experience and are truly kind people. This is the only tour you should consider!

I would say this is one of the best experiences I've ever had in Tromsø - not just because we saw the northern lights, but also because of the two lovely people I met and the stories they shared. Oli and Ryan were such wonderful guides. Their professionalism and deep knowledge of the northern lights were what pushed the success rate to its highest. It's never easy to see the northern lights when the sky is blanketed in heavy clouds. They always care about our safety and are ready to help. Apart from the amazing dancing northern lights we saw, Oli's and Ryan's passion was just as impressive as the beauty of nature. Jennifer

This was hands down our favourite experience during our visit to Tromsø. We had the BEST time on this tour. Oli and Ryan are incredible guides and hosts, and truly two of the warmest, most genuine people you could hope to meet. The weather wasn’t on our side at first, but thanks to their knowledge and experience, they took us to the most spectacular spot, right ahead of the incoming cloud cover, giving us the best possible chance of seeing the lights… and we did! We also met the loveliest group of people, which was such a bonus. The whole evening was filled with laughter, stories, delicious food, hot chocolate around the campfire, and of course, the aurora. Honestly, even if the lights hadn’t shown up, it still would have been an unforgettable night. And the professional photos were the most perfect finishing touch…Wow. Just wow. So, if you want great company and an amazing experience, Oli and Ryan are your guys. Thanks, Oli and Ryan for one of the most memorable nights ever. Michelle and Ian

We had the most unforgettable experience. It started at 3pm when we received a message from Ryan & Oli who informed us the trip might need to be cancelled due to poor forecasting. Their expert individual weather analysis a few hours later said otherwise and we were on the road to see the lights. The night was a success beyond just seeing the lights. It felt like we were around a campfire with a close bunch of friends even though they were people we’d only met a few hours earlier. Thank you for the experience of a lifetime. Oli drove all the way to Finland to bring me to my first-ever viewing of northern lights and the dancing auroras appeared right at the end! I loved his enthusiasm for us, the lights, and the photos. His photos turned out great. I will definitely book with Northbound again should I return to Tromso and am already highly recommending it to my friends around the world!

We had the most amazing night with Northbound. Oli & Ryan are fantastic, making sure everyone was comfortable all evening. They are both extremely knowledgeable about the lights and super friendly - loved the football banter! Ryan took some brilliant photos and a time lapse video of the evening and this was emailed to us within 24 hours. We felt extremely lucky to watch the lights dancing for 4 hours. Everything about the tour exceeded our expectations - thank you Oli & Ryan. Would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tromso. Steve & Karen

We spent a lot of time researching northern lights tours in Tromsø after missing them entirely on our trip to Iceland. While we know seeing the aurora ultimately comes down to luck, we also wanted a far better experience than we’d had before. In Iceland, our tours were with large groups, and the experience suffered, people using camera flashes constantly, little consideration for others, and a general lack of atmosphere. We knew this time we wanted something smaller, more personal, and more thoughtfully run. Oli and Ryan were fantastic and truly made for this kind of adventure. One thing we especially appreciated was that they took professional photos throughout the night, which meant we didn’t have to spend the entire time on our phones trying to capture mediocre shots. Instead, we could fully relax and enjoy the moment. The thermal suits they provide made a huge difference in staying warm, and their hospitality with hot drinks and food, was excellent and very much appreciated. If you’re looking for a special, one-of-a-kind northern lights experience, this is the tour to book. It may be a bit more expensive than some options, but this is a legitimate, professional operation that does everything right. Whatever the cost, I can honestly say it’s absolutely worth it for the experience you get.

Oli and Ryan are the best hands down! Best van, best conversation, best campfire meal too!! We went out to chase the lights with them this week and went to a lovely spot and saw a shy lady, but they found us a great clear spot even though Tromso was cloudy. Even with seeing just a few lights, they made the night fun! Do not hesitate to go on their tour!

Great evening with Ollie and Ryan, both were very passionate about the northern lights and the environment. They made the experience very special, taking photographs and Sitting around a campfire with hot chocolate and hot dogs , sharing stories. We were well looked after. Would definitely recommend. Wishing you all the best for the future.

Wow wow wow after finally getting the chance to do a northbound tour after seeing them so highly recommend we see why I could not fault one thing and would recommend to anyone coming to Tromsø. Oli was absolutely amazing the information he knows about the aurora is just unbelievable you can see the love and passion for his job which makes it more special. We had an absolute ball from start to end with some amazing lights over finland the attention to detail from start to finish of the tour we wasnt once bored or out of things to talk about 🤣. After doing an other tours previous year id 100% always choose northbound there's nothing out there like them. Over accommodating from snow suits to food intolerance even vegan sausages everyone was accommodated too. We had such a lovely group inc a special vip fan who's been 10 Times which I'm not suprised with how goood they are it felt like a family at the end the laughs and giggles we had. The professional pictures sent to you and timelapse are a special memory to have forever and reminiscing on this amazing trip If your in doubt choose northbound we will be back (I need a hat ) 🫶🏻 thank you so much guys.
