Personal and Adventurous Experience – A smaller group size allows for a more intimate and flexible chase, guided by Northern Lights experts.
Adaptive Routes and Patience – Our route changes based on weather, cloud cover, and road conditions. We may travel long distances or into Finland to find clear skies.
Set Realistic Expectations – The aurora is unpredictable; some nights offer subtle displays, while others feature vibrant colors. Multiple chases increase the chance of a spectacular sighting.
Scenic Stops When Possible – If conditions allow, we stop for campfires and photo opportunities, but finding clear skies is our top priority.
Expert Guidance and Support – Our guides assist with photography and share insights about the aurora, making this a rich and educational adventure.

Pictures often depict Northern Lights stronger than what we may see with our eyes
Our tour operates on all weather conditions. It is possible to find clear sky even in seemingly challenging weather conditions and we often see the Northern Light on nights when the weather forecast is worst.
Regardless if the sky is clear or not, there is a chance we may not see the Northern Lights
There are no refunds or free trip if we don’t see the Northern Lights
This is a real chase that can include many hours of driving. The return time to Tromsø is between midnight and 04:00
It is recommended to dress warm
You may be tired the next morning
We make toilet stops if possible, but sometimes we have to use nature
This trip requires a minimum of 8 participants. In the rare event that a trip needs to be cancelled, a full refund will be provided. In such cases, we will also offer to reschedule your trip to an alternative trip.
Alcohol is not allowed on the tour
The exact departure time will be sent on the morning of the tour.

5.00Marc was truly exceptional. His passion for astronomy and photography, combined with his warm personality, made it clear that he loves his craft—and he is incredibly skilled at it. While the northern lights were spectacular, they were only one part of the adventure. Marc’s scientific explanation of why they occur was absolutely riveting. The planning was equally top-notch, from the high-quality cold weather gear to the hot red currant tea, cozy firepit, and delicious food. A special mention must go to Dominick. His ability to navigate dark, snowy, and ic roads was remarkable. He was always one step ahead; whenever Marc was occupied, Dominick stepped in seamlessly to provide support. Together, they make a world-class team.

5.00We’ve often read others saying to just rent a car and not spend money on a tour. If we were to have gone a chase on our own in a car, we would have definitely given up, but with the minibus tour we had a successful night of experiencing the northern lights! The weather was challenging, but I am thankful for the excellent driving through snowy conditions by Marcin and determination of both Marcin and Irene to give us the best chance possible that night. We stopped a nice spacious pullout to set up camp after driving a few hours deep into Finland. Honestly, we were losing hope that we would see the lights that night, and the snow was still falling when we stopped, but Irene held onto hope and used her experience and resources to find a location where the skies may still clear. We got into our warm suits that they provided and it worked great to not notice the cold around us. Just as we were about to settle into the campfire, I remember looking up and seeing a star for the first time and pointed it out. Irene jumped up immediately and started searching the sky with her camera. She excitedly returned sharing we have some aurora activity and even started notifying the other tour groups around us that hadn’t noticed it yet. We looked out to where she pointed, and there it was! It was faint at first, but visible. Then the skies continued to open up just as the aurora strengthened in brightness and color! We were so excited to finally see the clearly green colors streak across the sky. Irene quickly started taking wonderful photos of everyone. She was efficient and a great photographer directing everyone each person to get a great photo, and even getting a link to all the photos to everyone the same night even after getting back after 2am. We definitely had a wonderful experience, and would trust them again if we were to ever come back for another experience.

5.00Our minibus was comfortable and wasn't overcrowded. Our guide was very knowledgable about the night sky and the northern lights. We shared an amazing display by Mother Nature and the lights danced for hours above our heads. We made 3 different stops, had a lovely and warm bonfire and our meal, drinks and dessert was tasty.

5.00We had a great experience - Bailey and Ivan were terrific, providing everything we needed. Bailey doubled as an expert photographer, snapping very creative photos and capturing all of the lights (better than we could) so we didn't have to worry about doing so with our phones. Thanks for a great experience!

5.00As it was my primary goal to see the aurora borealis during this holiday, I decided to choose a minibus 'chase' to maximize the chances of catching the elusive, unpredictable phenomenon. Our group of 10, made up of my husband and I and a lively group of British who'd returned this year after failing to see the lights last year, were led by young American-French guide Owen. He was very enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge, which we really appreciated, and so thoughtful in looking after us older adults throughout the 6-hour trip. Lucky for us, the night turned out very fruitful! Even before we got to Owen's hideout by a beach, we were already treated to the mesmerizing lights minutes after leaving Tromso city. After getting to the dark, secluded spot where we 'camped' by a campfire Owen built and ate delicious freeze-dried dinner, as well as a hot blueberry drink and chocolate cookies, we continued to enjoy the constantly-changing sky and had our pictures professionally taken by Owen. Yes, it was pretty cold to be out there in sub-10 degrees for hours. But our hearts - and tummies - were warm, and seeing the Northern Lights with great company was more than what we could ask for. Huge thanks to our great driver Pawel for bringing us around safely too! Highly recommend Chasing Lights.

5.00Marc and Wojtek were an excellent team. Marc was spot on in choosing excellent locations where we were treated to a breathtaking show of lightning fast pinks dancing above our heads - what a memorable experience! Wojtek kept us safe from oncoming vehicles on the highway and even taught us iPhone camera tips to take more beautiful photos. Marc started a fire and gave us a warm meal together with juice and cookies to keep us warm. Best of all, Marc took amazing photos and videos and shared them with us within the same night! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

5.00Perfect experience On the first day the weather did not help and we did not see the dawn, but on the second day it appeared beautifully! I recommend taking the tour more than one day to increase the chances, as the weather is unpredictable. About the company, Marc was fantastic! Wonderful tour, we will never forget!
