Firstly, you will see Plac Centralny (Central Square) which is today’s center of Nowa Huta. You will learn about the district’s history and how it was developed between 1949 and 1989.
Rose Alley
You will be taken on a walk through Aleja Roz (Avenue of Roses) where you will learn about the architecture of the district. Later on, you will see Tadeusz Sendzimir Steelworks (previously called Vladimir Lenin Steelworks during the Communist rule). After wandering through offices and conference rooms the guide will take you to an underground tunnel which leads to a shelter back from the 1950’s! Back on the ground, you will visit Arka Pana (Lord’s Ark) Church which was the first church built in Nowa Huta after inhabitants have been demanding it from the Communist government for years! The complex has been consecrated by Karol Wojtyla himself in 1977. Last but not least, you will be able to see real Soviet IS-2 tank in front of Museum of the Armed Act which is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Nowa Huta! The tour is around 3 hours long and after it, you will be taken back directly to your hotel.

Our guide and driver were both exceptional. They were friendly and personable and exceedingly knowledgeable. We enjoyed the modern history aspect. We also enjoyed getting to see Heritage sites that had not yet been converted into a museum. Guide and driver were both genuinely interested in the information that was presented, as well as ensuring that we were satisfied with our experience. Of the 5 tours we have taken in Poland, this was the best.
