  The beaches are stunning! Blue water, dramatic cliffs, soft sand. Snorkeling with tropical fish was so much fun. Angel’s Billabong became our favorite spot — calm, crystal-clear water like a natural pool. Being the best season for snorkeling made the whole trip smooth with no big waves.

  I went alone but quickly joined a small group. Snorkeling at Crystal Bay felt like entering a giant aquarium alot colorful fish swimming all around me. At Manta Bay, I even spotted one large manta ray from a distance, an unforgettable experience! The calm water during the best snorkeling season made it safe and enjoyable.

  We chose an operator with high safety ratings (life jackets, safety briefing, professional guides). The morning sea was super calm thanks to the best snorkeling season, so everyone could snorkel without issues. Moving between snorkeling spots was quick but well-coordinated. The driver and guides were friendly, making all of us feel safe even as many were first-time ocean snorkelers.

  The snorkeling spots had healthy coral reefs and colorful tropical fish in Crystal Bay and Gamat Bay. We even spotted a small moray eel and clownfish playing in anemones. Manta Bay was a bit unlucky that day, but the sea was calm and visibility excellent because it's the best snorkeling season. The guides were encouraging, especially for those nervous with slightly higher waves.

  Overall, the trip was average. Sightseeing was just okay, but the snorkeling was definitely the highlight and quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hotel transfers were poorly managed and involved old, uncomfortable vehicles, which was very disappointing. Expected better service and follow-through.

  Worst trip ever. Very disorganised. We were picked up from the hotel and dropped off at the port where we needed to catch the ferry. Whilst the driver gave us the tickets and guided us to the waiting area we weren't given any further information. We had to guess what was going on and followed the crowd to the ferry. Made it to the island where again it was confusing what group we were part of as everyone who off boarded went in different directions and again we just had to guess where we needed to go. The guides that would take us on a smaller boat weren't really helpful either. The actual snorkeling experience was underwhelming and quickly ruined by other tourist who didn't really want to snorkel because they couldn't swim or didn't want to get in the water so the guides cut it short and each place only allowed 10mins for snorkeling even though they would say 20mins or longer. Really don't understand why people booked this tour if they're not going to snorkel!! Anyway after docking back at the port where we had lunch, which was okayish. Just about edible. We were told that we would be take on a tour of the island after lunch. Nobody really explained what the tour included and where we were going and what we were going to see or do. They just got a group of us and directed us to a driver to go with him. Everyone on this tour was confused and had no idea where we were going. It was a long ride to the first stop which was a waste of time and could have done without. Second stop was scenic with a view of a lovely beach however you couldn't get to the beach because it was a 2 hour hike down to it and 2 hours back up. So again pointless taking us there. On the way back traffic was so bad that we weren't going to make the last boat which would leave the island at 5pm so the driver said we can try go by foot which would take 25mins and see if we would make it. It wasn't just our group that had to do this. We saw other tourists getting out their vehicles too to start walking/ running to the port to make the last boat. This experience was not great bearing in mind it was 30 degrees and locals were making a joke out of our misery of running through the road and traffic to make the boat. In the end we did make it but had we not ran we would have missed the last boat and left on the island stranded. I have no idea who our guide was and what his name was. This tour was absolutely crap and not worth the money or time. DO NOT BOOK. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!

• Nusa Penida is a Tropical Paradise

  Aside from snorkeling, the land tour was absolutely unforgettable. Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, and Broken Beach. The scenery is dramatic! Roads around the island are a bit challenging, but our driver was super careful. The sea was bright blue and clear thanks to the best snorkeling season. Highly recommended!

• Epic snorkeling + manta bay came through!

  We left Sanur early in the morning by fast boat. The sea was super calm since July is the best season for snorkeling. Our first stop was Manta Bay and yes, huge manta rays appeared multiple times! The guides were very attentive, especially for first-time snorkelers. The water was crystal clear, the underwater life vibrant, and swimming alongside these majestic creatures was unforgettable 🐋 The afternoon land tour to Kelingking & Broken Beach was spectacular too.

  I think from a the tours I’ve been on throughout my life this has by far been the worst experience. To begin with the tour was ok- we went snorkelling and the staff did their best and the activity was fine but afterwards during the land tour is where everything went downhill. We had a turgid who provided no description of where we were going or what we were doing, the roads there were extremely bumpy and due to this my friend actually injured himself hitting his head on the car ceiling due to the bumpy roads- if we had warning maybe we could’ve held onto something for support. Towards the end we got caught in traffic, we had been scheduled for the last boat leaving at 5pm and were told by our guide at around 4:40pm to make it to the boat we had to get out of the car and run. It was a long 30min walk we had to sprint in a 20min timeframe- I have severe asthma so attempting to do this resulted in an asthma attack and a twisted ankle. We did manage to make it to the boat in the end but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.

• Worth it!
