On this tour we will visit the beautiful canton of Quepos Puntarenas. We will start our tour hiking along the mountains that border the Pacific coast. From the mountains we will see the different turquoise and blue tones of the great Costa Rican Pacific coast. We will visit a variety of hidden beaches where we can relax and enjoy the natural beauty. You can expect to encounter some native species of the area such as limpets, white-faced monkeys, among others in their natural habitat.
Beaches to visit during our walk: La Macha, La Vaca, Tulemar, Los Altos, and Biezans.
So exotic. So dramatic. A place you feel lucky to have experienced!
Distance: 6 - 7 km approx. (A shorter or longer distance can be arranged if previously requested, as long as it is within the same time schedule)
Duration: 9 - 11 hours

Departure: 5:30 a.m.
Note: The terrain on this hike includes dirt roads, mountain trails through forest paths and along beaches

Itinerary: 5:30 a.m.: Our guide will pick you up at your hotel or meeting point. 7:30 a.m.: We will arrive at our special restaurant to have breakfast. The place is very nice and typical, they cook with firewood. 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.: We will start our tour bordering the coast looking at some exuberant landscapes in the middle of mountains of a tropical forest. During our journey we will visit hidden beaches and we could hopefully look at some animals such as monkeys, limpets among others. Beaches to visit during our walk: La Macha, La Vaca, Tulemar, Los Altos, and Biezans. 12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.: We finish our walk in a hidden beach to have a delicious snack and we will have free time to enjoy the beautiful beach. 2 p.m.: We will leave the beach and go to the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos to have our typical lunch in front of the sea. 3:30 p.m.: We start our return to San José.

5.00This review is listed for the Ocean Hike, but I’ve actully had three hiking tours with Eric, all of which have been wonderfu with amazing views. I did the hikes for the blue falls in Bajos del Toro, Pico Blanco, and of course this one. Ocean/beach hike: the ocean views are beautiful - the water is so vibrant. It is a very hot and humid hike though (but you do have time to swim at a beach later). I saw some iguanas and a bunch of hermit crabs at the last beach. Saw a sloth on the trail too! Breakfast and snacks were included; breakfast was great (Bajos del Toro: stunning blue waterfalls and beautiful countryside farmland, and delicious breakfast and lunch (great way to try traditional food) Pico Blanco: lovely mountain and city views and a small waterfall at the end, snacks provided) Eric is fantastic. He’s very friendly and communicative, and was always on time. During the trails, he’s attentative and points out various plants and animals along the way. He makes sure you know where to step if needed. I’ve also had the chance to meet some cool people during the hikes who were lovely to chat with! 100% recommended. Thank you, Eric, for three awesome hikes!

5.00This tour was the highlight of our trip! If you are looking for an awesome hike to secluded beaches, this is for you. Beautiful views and moderate exercise in the peaceful jungle. We saw great wildlife, including monkeys! Eric was the best guide and we would absolutely do another excursion with him when we return.
