UNCLE J WALKS, presents the ONLY walking tour in the old city that offers ENTRY to both iconic Castles, CASTILLO SAN FELIPE DEL MORRO and CASTILLO SAN CRISTOBAL.

Very few operators offer a Castle tour in the city, none offer two, that is, until now.

In a fun, intimate setting, let Uncle j, dressed as an 18th century soldier,

guide you through the history of the fortifications, which King Phillip 11

called “the key to the Indies’

We encourage small groups so you have ample time to take fantastic photos and to soak in the views.

Castillo San Cristobal is our first stop. A UNESCO ‘National Historic Site’, has being called an ‘engineering masterpiece’ Built to repel attackers from the land. Cristobal was considered state of the art for its time. we will be here 45 minutes

Our Certified Historical Interpreter, dressed in a White Spanish Colonial uniform, will meet your party next to Christopher Columbus Statue, in Plaza Colon. Here, discovery of the island and an introduction to the local indigenous inhabitants, the Tainos wil be discussed

I chose this tour after reading reviews, and I wasn't wrong. Our guide, Ankle J, is a very interesting man with a sense of humor and a deep knowledge of history. Puerto Rico's documented history truly began here, in these forts and castles. So this is the first tour you should take; everything else comes later... Then you'll have a magnificent picture of Puerto Rico. Convenient parking is available next to the tour, Estacionamiento Doña Fela (Closest Option). Our tour started at 2 p.m. and ended around 5:30 p.m., then we spent a wonderful evening and dinner at one of the local restaurants serving traditional cuisine near the parking lot.

Uncle J was a wealth of information. With him being our guide we learned a lot more about the castles. We admired that he could walk three hours in Puerto Rico in a period soldier uniform. It was a plus that he contacted us through WhatsApp before the tour so we were clear on all aspects of the tour.

Uncle J is a great character! With his outfit and his energy is definitely standing out. He has so much knowledge about the history of his Island and all the battles that happened over the centuries. His way of presenting Castillo San Cristobal and El Morro is super interesting and fun. He made a great vibe in our group and I would most definitely recommend him to anyone! Be ready for the 3h tour that is really worth it!

The overall experience was great. Captain J as we liked to call him was very knowledgeable, friendly, and will take you through Puerto Rico’s rich history. It is an inexpensive walk and admission is only $10 for both Forts. The walk will take 3 hours and it is exactly that a walk into the depths of the forts. All three of our kids had a great time and it was very interactive with Uncle J.

Uncle J was brilliant, he has great knowledge of San Juan history, also a very pleasant person, I truly enjoyed the tour with him. Also he knows best spots for the photos! :)
