From the booking of this 7 day trip six months ago I was in constant contact with Minelu in the office. He guided me as to what to bring and expect and I had a feeling I was in for something most special. I’ve been to Ethiopia over 25 years but this week was among the most profound and deeply moving weeks of my life ! The tour encompassed 10 plus tribes and all was done at a leisurely pace that my friend and I could enjoy some quality time with each community getting to learn the local customs and meet locals who were so welcoming. Minelu was a tremendous host and I was overjoyed to meet his family and spend an evening with him discussing Ethiopia and my beloved Liverpool football club with him over some fine local beers. His guide Solomon and driver Dani were simply wonderful - Sol with a remarkable knowledge - Dani with the driving skills and musical taste that made all roads seem short and smooth. They like Minelu became friends - languid friendly and charismatic Ethiopian greats. Our itinerary was pitch perfect regarding timing and the people we met. Local guides from each tribe were helpful and knowledgable and we had fun with all. OMO tours hit my senses on all counts - such a rich rich experience - I say Ethiopia is a “long dissolve” to visit - I will seek joy and intrigue from my memories of this week in September all my days. Minelu - Sol- Dani dear friends thank you. I will return.

Our guide Solomon and driver Danny were the absolute best! Solomon was exceptionally helpful, kind and knowledgeable. Danny navigated the sometimes difficult roads with care. We felt as though we were in the best hands. Southern Ethiopian is a really unique and fascinating part of the world. We would have had a hard time without Solomon taking care of us every step of the way. Solomon speaks 5 languages. He knows all the best places to go. The itinerary was just right. The accommodations were very good for a place off the beaten tourist track. Don't hesitate. Highly recommended!

I opted for the six day tour around the Omo Valley starting from Jinka. The communication with the tour organiser, Minalu, in advance of my arrival was excellent and I was provided with a detailed (and, more importantly) accurate itinerary for the trip. I was met on arrival at Jinka airport and immediately offered water and lunch before we set off on the journey south. First of all a big shout out to Siraj (my guide) and Sileshi (our driver) for making this trip an amazing and unforgettable six days. I’ve never quite experienced anything like it (and I have travelled a lot). Siraj and Sileshi were an absolute joy to travel with and I felt safe, welcome and informed at every stage of the trip. They were keen to ensure that I was comfortable and happy with every aspect of the trip (I was!). Eating lunch together in local roadside restaurants and trying the local (delicious) food was a real highlight as we travelled around the south. The trip itself involved visiting numerous tribes over the six days and I really appreciated the fact that Siraj made sure that he found a local guide everywhere we visited so that they could introduce me to the village and show me around. In all cases these guides spoke excellent English, spoke knowledgeably about their tribe and were willing to answer my questions and help me take photos without offending local sensitivities. The highlight was the bull jumping ceremony, which can't be guaranteed on the trip, but we were lucky enough to be in the area when the Hamar were celebrating. We spent about three hours with the tribe and again the advantage of a local guide came to the fore as he commandeered my phone and went around taking numerous photos and videos whilst I used my camera. The resulting shots were amazing and I got two lots of photos! My biggest concern before booking this trip is that I would be signing up for a voyeuristic journey around tourist infested 'human zoos' where the local peoples were exploited for the sake of a few trophy photos. Thankfully these concerns were soon dispelled. Siraj obviously has a professional understanding of the protocols involved in visiting the tribes and smoothed our path at every juncture. All entry and photo fees were discreetly taken care of and I never felt that I was intruding or unwelcome. There were also many opportunities to purchase local crafts which, for me at least, felt like a small way of giving something back. I also appreciated the recommendation before I arrived to bring small gifts of soap, razors and antiseptic cream. These were really appreciated. All in all I cannot recommend this tour enough. I would have no hesitation booking again, if I were fortunate enough to return.

This was an amazing tour well conducted and planned with Top Omo Valley Tours and owner Minalu. Minalu answered all emails very promptly and really the entire operation was perfect. We had a short 3 day tour (I would have done a few more days) and visit Bana, Ari, Kara, Mursi, Hamar tribes. I would totally have extended the trip to visit tribes further away. A 5 star operation!

I had the pleasure to go on the Omo Valley trip with Ermi (guide) and Fahmi (driver). Overall I enjoyed it very much, and Ermi went out of his way to make the trip as good as possible. The Resort you will sleep in is okay-ish, don't expect glamour, but the food is nice :) Also make sure to bring a _local_ sim card, not an e-SIM. They are sold for 100GB for 15$ at the airport. It is much better than the WiFi provided.

We highly recommend this tour, which we joined as four friends from Turkey. Our guide Ermi and our driver Fahmi were incredibly helpful throughout our 5-day tour. We absolutely loved the region and were deeply impressed by it. Even though our lost luggage only arrived after 4 days, we did not experience any problems thanks to the excellent organization. All the hotels we stayed at, our transportation, and the entire tour planning were perfectly organized. We sincerely thank Ermi and the whole Top Omo Valley tour team for everything!

I am Domenico, a solitary traveller, I took an 8 days tour in the Omo Valley, relying on TOP OMO VALLEY TOURS by Mr Minalu, a very kind person who has always provided support and solutions, adapting the entire tour to my needs from the initial programming and with highly competitive prices. It was a challenging trip but made easy and beautiful thanks to my guide Ermi and my driver Gimi, very kind and always caring people that I will never stop thanking for their preparation and professionalism. I was constantly followed in every safe move by Mr Minalu. They all cared about my comfort throughout the trip, treated me like their brother. I never had to worry about any expenses, it was all included in the tour: transportation, water, food, hotel and lodge accommodations and even tips for photographs. In addition to the classic tourist targets we made photographic stops and visits to markets off the usual tourist routes getting in pleasant contact with the local population. I had the chance to photograph the (must-see) bull jumping ceremony of the Hamar tribe, I entered the huts, saw colorful markets, participated in coffee ceremonies, learned to recognize local plants, birds, customs and customs, met wonderful people. It was a trip that far exceeded the best of my expectations, I certainly came back much richer than at the start. Highly recommended.
