  We had booked the sunrise tour with Batur Adventures (via Trip Advisor) Communication was great leading up to the morning of our experience. Pick up went smoothly and on time. We were staying in Ubud, so was collected at 2.30am. Our driver Adi was lovely and made great morning conversation. Once we arrived to the mount, we were paired up with a guide to take us to the top. I'd highly recommend bringing some warm clothes. Preferably something light to carry and some layers. As going up the summit will warm you up and potentially sweat your face off!. But once you're at the top and stationary (for a while) it's very cold up there. We had a rain jacket over our tops, and that was not enough. So something with a hood or thermals would keep you comfy while you wait for nature's beauty. (They do also have locals up top hiring blankets if need be) Now, We'd generally consider ourselves fairly fit people (Les Mills, F45 & training for a 1/2 marathon) But the 1.5hour trek up was definitely a challenge. So just be aware of that and take your time. Feel free to stop for breaks and just take one step at a time. There is a lot of waiting once at the summit, so even if it takes 2hrs to climb, you'll still have a lot of time to catch the sunrise. (Which starts forming at around 5.30am) Once at the summit, We were given some tea/coffee and a tray of banana sandwiches, boiled eggs & fruits. Which were tasty & helped warm us up. The sunrise experience was sensational and made the painstaking ascent worth it all. Our guide was very helpful and showed us around the summit. He also took lovely photos of us too. The descent down was fairly easy. It is down a different way you come up, through a loose soil bike track. So just take it slow and enjoy the warmth of the day. Once at the base, we got picked up by Adi, and made our journey home. Adi was happy to take us to the Luwak coffee plantation on our way back. But we were tired and opted for the hotel instead. Overall the experience was a Batur Adventure, and I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to create a lasting memory in Bali.

  Well worth the very early morning. The highlight of my trip to Bali. I wasn’t sure about this when I booked but was not disappointed. It’s a tough trip up, definitely need a moderate level of fitness, roughly takes 1.5 - 2 hours. But so worth it at the top. The views amazing and the photos we got were wonderful. Our guide was absolutely fantastic. Hot springs a good end to the trip.recommend highly.

  My friends and I were planning our trip to Bali and really wanted to hike Mt Batur with a guide. I searched the internet looking for the right group, but nothing really felt right. I stumbled upon Air BNB Experiences, something I've never considered before and started searching opportunities. I found Jero's posting for the Sunrise Trek up to Mt. Batur and immediately felt a connection through the post so I booked it up for our group of 5. It looked like a fairly new posting as there weren't many reviews but it just felt right. I am extremely extremely satisfied with what we received. They did a pickup at our villa in Ubud super early in the morning and drove us to the base of Mt Batur where the hike would start. All the reviews I had read on the hike said it was "easy" and I'm not an advanced hiker by any means, I'm barely moderate. I totally recommend you do this hike even though I considered this a moderate to difficult hike. Mudi was our guide up the mountain and he was so encouraging, I wanted to quit when he told us we were only a 1/3 of the way up instead of letting me quit, he grabbed my hand and pulled me up the mountain. Encouraging me the entire way up that it would be worth it. He stopped quite a few times just to make sure I was breathing :) and so the group could take a break and he made the hike fun. We climbed up the rocky part which is a little harder than the other path ( which is mostly switchbacks) he wanted us to avoid the crowds and had better views along the way. In hindsight, I am glad he did that. When we reached the summit before sunrise (YES WE MADE IT WOOHOO), he made us breakfast of banana sandwiches, cookies, eggs and some hot tea/coffee which brought us all back to life. We were really fortunate this hike as it was right around the time Mt Agung erupted and had closed the airport a few days earlier. I had prayed along the way that we would get to see some sort of volcanic activity and sure enough about 30 minutes after reaching the summit Mt Agung blew out a bunch of ash. So rad! Even if the volcano doesn't erupt, I highly recommend Jero and his tour team, it was privately run, so we weren't with any other group and they had impeccable Customer service and satisfaction. After the hike was over, they took us to a coffee plantation where we got a tour of the different things grown on the island as well as a big tasting opportunity. Don't look anywhere else, this gives you everything you need! Happy Trekking.

  We did the sunrise trip and had a great tour recently. From start to finish the whole trip was well organized by Jero. Our driver was early to pick us up from the hotel in Courtyard Marriott Seminyak, he was very polite, safe driving and he let us go to anywhere else after we had finished our trek. We were meet our experiences guide called Made Dat in the base of Mount Batur where we start our hike. We could not have asked for a better guide if compare with. He knowable, friendly, Funny, patient and helpful as well!! He really cares to both of us, especially needed on the way back down because the trail slippery! Made took us to the best place to watch the sunrise “less croded” and served us banana sandwiches and a boiled egg which was greatly cooked in the steam of volcano. Would highly recommend using this company, great communication, staff and trips made your trip memorable!

  I worked with Alit to visit Mount Batur and Agung, Alit was so helpful, kind and accommodating guy. Absolutely he truly went out of his way to ensure that we’re comfortable and guiding us to explore all over Bali. The trek both volcano were phenomenal, Batur much easier but to crowded, Agung much challenging but rewarding once you reaching the top. I highly recommend hiking up Mount Batur if you are novie but Agung another ways if you love challenge!! Agung not for beginners (hike only for truly adventure lover) and hiking boots are certainly necessary! Millions of starts on the way up the volcano were the most beautiful, I have ever seen in my entire life! Batur a must but Agung thinks twice :)

  If you are heading to Bali make sure you get the Ketut Bakat as your Mount Batur trekking guide! Ketut is the best local guide!! I was organized tour by jerro for my sunrise trek, he send his uncle and wroth his promise!! We did with hin the secondly time! We had so much fun and Ketut Bakat was so kind and helpful! We did surrounding the crater after sunrise and head down the hot spring. At the other sites we captured plenty nice pictures of Lake Batur. Would be recommend them enough! Overall 5 to 5 start rating of TripAdviaor!!! Thanks Jerro and Wayan :) :)

  My driver was fantastic. He picked me up at the exact time I was told to wait for him and drove me two hours to the location of Mount Batur. He made sure I was hydrated during the two hour ride and let me sleep through the entire car ride. Guide that accompanied me up for the sunrise at mount batur was also very kind and accommodating the whole time making sure i was rested and hydrated and well fed once I got up to the peak Definitely recommend any solo trekkers out there to go with Mount Batur Trekking!

  Mount Batur Sunrise trekking is a Must do while you're in Bali! Sunrise was just perfect, scenery really beautiful. Easy way book through in advance. Hike approximate 2 hours up and 2 hours down. Definitely recommend a visit for sure.

  We booked Mount Batur Sunrise trekking through Mount Batur Trekking Net in Seminyak. Yes it was worth every single step, the views and sunrise from the second sacred mountain in Bali was pretty beautiful. Rinjani mounting in the distance appear of sunrise, we saw massive Caldera Batur. Picked up in our Hotel W Retreat and Spa Bali at 1:40 am by friendly driver, travel approximately 2 hours. The hike began 10 minute before 4 am, it was pick dark but challenging for me :). The Guide Mangku just awesome, helped my friend till the summit. Yummy breakfast served on the summit while watching sunrise. I and my fiends highlight recommend to do Mount Batur sunrise trek while travel to Bali.
