  Ruben was funny, engaging, and gave us a good balance of historical knowledge and personal experience! We went to two restaurants and two bars, and had a great experience sampling so many foods and drinks! It was such a fun way to get to know Osaka!

  We had such a great time on the Osaka Backstreet Nightlife & street food walking tour! Our host, Rodney, was able to find locations that fit our big group and our varying dietary needs without sacrificing authenticity or enjoyment.

  We had such a great and memorable time with Rodney! He took us to some food spots as well as bars, we got to try a lot of local food and drinks that we probably would never have had otherwise. We went to places we would have never been able to find on our own, hidden away in back alleys and inconspicuous buildings. I fully recommend this tour to anybody who would like to experience an authentic night out in Osaka!

  Had the most amazing tour with Kevin!! Couldn't fault it. We were thrilled to find out we were the only two who'd booked, so we got a private tour and Kevin took us to all his favourite spots. He seemed to know all of the proprietors and staff pretty well, so he and the venues made us feel right at home. Everyone was super friendly. Kevin was so knowledgeable about the food and drinks we enjoyed and the venues we went to, and we absolutely would never have found any of them without his help. We even ended up going back to our favourite one after the tour (shout out to Oni!). I thought the length and value of the tour was incredibly reasonable for how much you get to eat and drink. We booked mostly for the drinks and bar experience, but you also get plenty enough food to feel full (and provide a good amount of padding for the alcohol!) It was a great opportunity to enjoy a unique and local experience of Osaka. I would definitely book with Taste Osaka (and Kevin!) if and when we return.

  Rodney was a great guide. The food was delicious, and he showed us a few small bar spots, where we really felt like locals. In fact, we were the only non-locals in most places. Super fun evening we wouldn't have been able to plan ourselves -- definitely worth it.

  We had an absolutely fantastic time on our Osaka backstreet food and nightlife tour with Danyk. From the very first stop, he set the tone with his fun energy, great storytelling, and nonstop humor. He really knows how to bring a group together and make the night feel like hanging out with a local friend. We kicked things off at Minamiichiban (ミナミ一番), a lively izakaya where we tried an assortment of delicious skewers paired with Japan’s classic lemon sour (レモンサワー) — the perfect opener for the evening. From there, we headed to Yakiyaki Teppanyaki Bonkuraya Sennichimae (やきやき鉄板 ぼんくら家 千日前店) for Osaka comfort food royalty: okonomiyaki and teppan dishes that hit the spot. Danyk then guided us through the backstreets of Osaka, weaving through hidden alleys and tiny local bars we never would have found on our own. We sampled a few more drinks and bites along the way (he always knew the right thing to order), and even made a quiet stop at a small mossy local shrine, where we added water to the statues for good luck — a surprisingly peaceful moment in the middle of busy Namba. Of course, we snapped the classic photo at the Glico Man before ending the night at a tiny karaoke bar, belting out a few songs and laughing the whole time. Throughout the evening, Danyk was super fun, knowledgeable, and genuinely entertaining. He shared insights into Osaka food culture, nightlife, and daily life, all with a light, playful vibe that made the whole experience unforgettable. If you want a night out that mixes great food, hidden spots, cultural nuggets, and a lot of laughs, don’t miss this tour — and definitely ask for Danyk!

  Jesse is a rockstar, made us feel like we were locals and took us down some alleys to see hidden gems we would NEVER have seen without someone guiding us. 10/10 this should be a must do for any first timer in Osaka.

  This tour was fantastic. Our guide Paul was so warm, welcoming, and fun, and he taught us a ton over the course of the night. We had a blast and felt like it was a super insightful experience at the same time. Would recommend this tour to everyone!
