◼︎Feel the nostalgia of the past in Shinsekai with your palate with local foods such as Kushikatsu◼︎
This 3-hour food journey will start with visiting the Shinto shine in Shinsekai. You will see an old busy commercial district with the Tsutenkaku Tower as the symbol of this area.
◼︎Step in time as your guide takes you through a food alley from the past◼︎
You wouldn't believe how much you can explore in this narrow alley which is only 1.2m in width.

Hiro was very nice and shared a lot about day-to-day Japanese culture. He’s still getting his sea legs as a tour guide. It would have been good to learn more about the cultural info surrounding the food we ate and temple and shrine we visited. We also only got to eat 2 of the 3 foods listed in the tour (missed the takomaki). The first spot for the fried skewers seemed quite local but the 2nd place we went to for the pancake was clearly a tourist spot.

Hide our tour guide was great. However this was advertised as a foodie food tour. Myself and the others in the group felt it wasn’t this. I felt it was quite overpriced compared to the amount of food we got. I would suggest it gets rebranded as an Osaka city tour with some snacks rather than anything else.

For our family, the restaurant/food choices and activities on this tour were disappointing. We didn’t find any “hidden gems” along the way … it was like visiting Manhattan and staying the whole time in Times Square. The food was plentiful, but mediocre. On the positive side, the guide was very friendly and tried hard to be helpful (but he wasn’t in control of the agenda) and our fellow travelers were fun to meet (our family took up 4 of the 7 slots). I just wouldn’t recommend this tour to fellow “foodies.”

Our experience with Emi as our expert, kind and accommodating guide was far above our expectations. Not only was Emi knowledgeable of the various locations we visited, but she was able to connect food, restaurants, and common practices to normal daily life in Osaka. We not only ate a lot of incredible dishes but learned a lot. From start to finish, our tour was an enjoyable and certainly memorable experience which we highly recommend to anyone considering a similar tour of Osaka and will pass along the information directly to others we know so that they might have a similar experience.
