Enjoy a nature and birding tour on the Paraguay river, just 50 km from Asunción. On a boat ride through the river, we will head towards some less populated areas, where we could find large number of waterbirds, including different species of herons, storks, sandpipers, terns, kingfishers. We will also observe several birds of prey, probably seedeaters (depending on the time of year), as well as some of the aquatic mammals such as neotropical otter, or even caimans. We will also enjoy a beautiful sunrise or sunset (depending on the selected time of the tour), giving you the opportunity to capture unique moments with your cameras with the incredible nature that offers the Paraguay river. The rest of the Tour will refer to the round trip to this beautiful natural wonder. The total travel time will take approximately 2 hours with round-trip

5.00This was one of the best tours I’ve been on. Esteban went out of his way to make our day special. He even took us to a special store on the way home so my daughter could buy a specific souvenir. Arturo and Dianna were gracious hosts. Breakfast was delicious. Birds, birds, and more birds. Parakeets, kingfishers, hawks, toucan, herons, and so much more. The rivers were beautiful and the morning tour beat the heat. If you’re considering a nature tour, this one won’t disappoint.

5.00This was an amazing day trip as we saw so many birds and a monkey. I am travelling solo and joined a small group (5 plus our guide) which was really nice. It was very well organised. The guide was extremely friendly and very knowledgable about the wildlife, surrounding area and Paraguay in general. The lunch and snacks provided were amazing. The pace is super relaxed. We walked briefly in parts and took the boat on 2 rivers. It was ideal and a great way to see nature. I would highly recommend this trip and the company as they provide multiday tours.

5.00This was such a unique experience I’m writing this review a few years later, I still think about it often. Very unique cultural experience; very raw and real. If you’re going in the morning I suggest drinking coffee beforehand because the boat ride is so relaxing me and my friends fell asleep. We saw so many incredible bird species and saw the locals fishing and taking care of livestock. Raw untouched nature is all around you. Highly recommended for nature lovers.

5.00First, my sincere thanks to the company for going off the standard itinerary to accommodate two truly old travelers (not just “senior citizens”). That flexibility set the tone for a memorable day. Our small group—my wife (French), myself (USA), a gentleman from Romania, and our French guide—made for an easy, friendly dynamic aboard the boat. The river ride itself is wonderful. The water is opaque and muddy, so don’t expect to see beneath the surface—but that hardly matters. The banks are dense with lush, vibrant greenery, and birdlife is abundant and beautiful. It’s a peaceful, immersive experience. We stopped at a rural farm. “Rural” here meaning genuinely remote and very basic. There is no electricity or running water, which gives you a real sense of how people live off the grid. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by an enthusiastic and affectionate young dog named Oso (“Bear”), who quickly became part of the experience. The farm is a working cattle ranch, with cows and chickens roaming freely. To an untrained eye, some of the cattle appeared lean, though they are grazing on open pasture and are likely well adapted to those conditions. One young calf, however, appeared to have an infected front leg and digestive issues that seemed to require medical attention, which was difficult to see. Overall, this was an authentic and memorable excursion—beautiful scenery, rich birdlife, and a glimpse into a way of life far removed from the usual tourist experience.
A magical trip along the Paraguay River

5.00A magical day knowing a little of the flora and fauna of the Paraguayan Chaco. Birds with beautiful colors, sizes and plumages. Sounds, colors, landscapes that really move and cheer the spirit. Being able to be immersed in nature, like that, was magical and gave a special touch to our trip to Paraguay. We were lucky to be accompanied by Esteban and Manu, charmers, who brought us even closer to the reality of the area. With very good disposition, super worried, we left and returned to the scheduled hours. A highly recommended experience that I would say is a must. Grateful for having had the opportunity to be there and for closing our trip with a moving, magical and unforgettable sunset.
We spent the 26th year in a superior hotel, it was the best thing about our visit. It's a very cheap country

3.00Asuncion is a beautiful city, as a very different capital to Santiago. I was impressed by its greenery but, there is no life for tourism, with great effort "armed" our walks or visits in search of attractions, example see the Government Palace, the Pantheon of Heroes was closed. The semi-abandoned Costanera. TOURIST INFORMATION NOTHING. Besides, in this summer it is impossible to withstand the heat. Very friendly people, but I wouldn't come back.

5.00I bought this activity based on the excellent reviews I read here on TripAdvisor and, believe me, it's ALL that's rated and much more! My wife and I liked tours / activities different from what is traditional (city tour, classical places and etc..) and since my first reading this activity I was very motivated to hire. Commenting with my wife, in the first presentation of the idea she already told me that I had loved and wanted to go. Esteban, our driver, guide, host and (now) friend, caught us at the hotel at exactly the scheduled time - 13:30hs - and already offered us cold water - it was very hot in Assunção. The tour ended up being private, only me and my wife participated. Shortly after, we were already on our adventure in the Paraguayan Chaco: Esteban is a great acquaintance of nature in that region, however, more than that, he is an enthusiast of what he does, passing the love for birds and animals to those who are with him - and what eyes to find these birds in the trees! Then we take a boat piloted by the friendly Arturo, and we soak up in the Paraguay River - there are no words to describe the sensations - which are not limited to observing the birds and animals themselves, but the smell of nature, the beauty of the region, some rivery communities and much more! It is worth noting that on the boat, it was offered water, soft drinks and beer - ice cream by sign. At the end of the tour, we returned to our "base", in a very well-kept resort and we were welcomed with a wonderful afternoon coffee, as my wife said, made with much love by Arturo's sister (forgive us for not remembering his name). Coffee, milk, tea, juice, bread, hot mix, jelly, butter.....all of the best quality and still we were grateful with a beautiful sunset! We returned to Assunción after 20:00hs, sure we made an excellent choice! Esteban, once again, thank you so much for this wonderful tour, congratulations WILD LIFE TOURS!

5.00Great for Nature lovers. Estaban was a wonderful guide, helping us spot birds and a fox (the only animal we saw). Going down the river on a big raft while watching the birds, having a meal and seeing an unbelievable sunset was so relaxing and good for the soul.

5.00We had a fantastic day with Esteban and his son Manu on our tour in Puerto Olivares! With a small 3 person group, the tour felt unique and personal, allowing us to learn able Paraguayan history and culture in an authentic way. Communication in WhatsApp was clear and easy. We were picked up from our hotel in Asunción and went on our journey into the countryside. Much of the drive is on unpaved road, which added to the adventure. There were enough binoculars for everyone to look at various local birds Esteban identified on the drive. Once we got to the river, we were greeted by a family with an incredible eco-homestead/ranch at Estacion Puerto Olivares and were taken on a speedboat in the Manduvirá and Paraguay Rivers. Arturo Jr led us on the boat while he and Esteban pointed out more beautiful birds and monkeys! After the boat tour, we enjoyed sunset and a light snack at the ranch before our drive back to Asunción. We loved chatting with all our hosts on the tour and experiencing authentic local hospitality! While sunscreen/bug spray are provided, bring some if you prefer and make sure to wear long pants and appropriate shoes for for this type of tour.
