We offer deeply personal exploration of history through touching stories, alongside insights into Budapest's vibrant contemporary culture, including its renowned nightlife and urban art scene. In addition to delving into the rich historical significance of the Jewish District, our tours stand out for their emphasis on uncovering hidden symbols and lesser-known narratives, providing a comprehensive understanding beyond typical tourist experiences.
This is a group tour and requires a minimum of 4 participants to operate. In the event the minimum number is not reached, you will receive a full refund.
Important note: Groups of 8 or more people are required to contact us at least 24 hours in advance and they have to pay a minimum 8 €/ person minimum fee for the tour, whether they booked as a group or separately.

We meet and greet you at Elizabeth square ( Erzsébet tér in Hungarian) where our fully licensed local tour guide is waiting for our Travellers. We sketch the itinerary and the major sights along the way including the largest Synagouge in Europe and tell you about the Jews of Hungary. We are going to focus on from the Belle Epoque or Golden Age to the destruction.
Deak Ferenc Square
Here we speak about "Gaudiopolis" the City of Joy in Latin and Schutzpass that saved thousands of Jewish life. We also show you the former medieval city wall ruins that excluded Jewish people to trade within the city limits.

5.00Very informative and enjoyable walking tour of the Jewish District of Budapest. Our tour guide gave us a history of the Jewish people in Hungary and Budapest and when possible related it to the buildings and areas. The Holocaust years were shocking and poignant.

5.00This visit is amazing, so many historical and deeply interesting information. Our guide, Kristina, is fantastic: incredibly knowledgeable and an amazing storyteller. I strongly recommend this tour, which offers a great, well-informed perspective on the city and the country’s history, with a focus on the Ghetto. The story is, of course, deeply sad given the topic, but Kristina knows how to balance it beautifully by highlighting some special experiences of this capital’s magnificent.

5.00Gary was our guide. He is a veritable fountain of knowledge with an engaging style. We learned a lot of interesting history of the Jewish community in Hungary. Although we have visited Budapest before, Gary showed us parts of the Jewish neighborhood that we hadn’t seen. It was a totally worthwhile, fast-paced presentation.

5.00The tour guide was really charismatic, entertaining, and knowledgeable, and he spoke beautiful English (although he reminded us of Dr Nick from The Simpsons!). There was a gem in every sentence. Brilliant.

5.00An amazing and comprehensive tour of the Jewish Quarter, highly recommend! We really enjoyed having a smaller group, and our guide, Dora, was very knowledgeable. She was able to answer all questions, had interactive moments with the group, and also helped us find places to explore afterwards. The tour is free, the way they can continue to run is from tips. We had about 8000 forints for two people, but honestly wish we had more to give since it was so good!

5.00I joined the Jewish walking tour this afternoon, 23 April 2026, with Esther and really enjoyed the experience. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon exploring the neighborhood and discovering key landmarks and historic buildings. Esther is a true local and her passion for the community and its history comes through in every explanation. She is knowledgeable and engaging. I left with a much deeper appreciation of the area and its stories. Highly recommended.

5.00The guide, Edi, was very informed and organized with her talk and tour leading. It is always interesting to learn with knowledgeable guides and be in the company of like-minded people. This tour expanded my knowledge about Jewish people living in Hungary over many centuries. Loved ending the tour in a ruins bar- another part of past and present.
