Kek Lok Si Temple
During the British colonial era, the Chinese community in Penang flourished, practicing their faith with devotion and building many grand temples—some said to rival, if not surpass, those in China. One of the most renowned is Kek Lok Si, often described as the largest Buddhist temple complex in Southeast Asia, resembling a spiritual theme park. Built in 1985, visitors can learn about Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism while exploring its beautifully crafted pagodas, vibrant lanterns, intricate statues, and peaceful gardens. Don’t miss the breathtaking view of George Town from the temple grounds. As the locals say: “You haven’t been to Penang unless you’ve visited Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si.”

5.00Our driver/guide Jeffery was excellent. Very knowledgeable and super friendly. Excellent navigation skills getting us very close to all sites visited. We saw everything on the itinerary and then some. In short, a great day and a wonderful exposure to Penang.

5.00Lester was an amazing guide — enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and a very safe driver. He organised everything perfectly and made the tour fun with his great storytelling and cheerful nature. We saw the best of Penang: Georgetown’s street art and Little India, the breathtaking views from Penang Hill, and the impressive Kek Lok Si Temple. 5.00Jeff was an exceptional tour guide who sprinkled in interesting stories and fun facts during a full day tour of Penang. He arranged the tour so that we were always ahead of the crowd — and took us to the must-see spots as well as ones that were non-touristy as we requested. The day was completely enjoyable from start to finish with seamless pickup at the pier. I would highly recommend a Penang tour with Jeff!

5.00A great overview tour of Penang and a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Eng. he provided both a historical and cultural perspective. He dropped and picked us up in front of every attraction while he went to park his car so that we will not be impacted by the heat and the sun.

5.00We had an excellent experience and day exploring Penang and George Town. Our guide, Eng was outstanding. He answered our questions, asked us questions and led a day of thought provoking dialogue. I continue to use the Viator travel experiences and have never been disappointed. Our tour included markets, temples, food, scenery and a day of Malaysian learning.
