5.00Earlier this month I took the walking food tour with my elder parents who were a bit hesitant with trying local street food. Our guide Rachel was amazing, she introduced us to the origins of the food, local area knowledge and took us to some amazing places that my parents were keen to go back to on our other days in the city. It was a great tour and one i would highly recommend. We still talk about it weeks later :)

3.00Food tour was disappointing. The guide was verbose for my taste. His choices in restaurants we almost all carbs and too cheap. I don’t mind hole in the wall places, in fact, I love them. They don’t have to be posh either, just good food. Most of the places were noodles, rice cake/mochi like desserts, we were lucky to get some samosas[at least they had some chicken in them. Also poorly executed. We had a full group, 8 people. You would think the restaurants would be planned out in advance with reservations and orders placed. Not, so. If the intended restaurant was too full we'd go to another. Would place the order and have to wait to have it prepared. In some cases it was quite a wait bc the food was prepared in the order it was placed. You'd think the Food Tour Co would have a relationship with the restaurants in order for this to go more smoothly. Overall a poorly done tour. I think 3 stars is being very generous. At least the people in the tour were very friendly and accomplished. The 3.5 hrs passed fairly quickly though much of it was listening to Ken drone on and waiting for the food to be prepared.
10/10 would recommend

5.00Our third tour with A Chefs Tour and our second in Penang and it did not disappoint. As with all the other tours we were absolutely stuffed by the end having tried many amazing dishes we wouldn’t have thought to try. This one has more Indian food compared to the morning one which leans more Chinese, but both are brilliant. Sandy-Oh was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun. It took just under 4 hours with a bit of walking but you’re glad for the digestion break towards the end.

5.00We loved this tour! The variety of food and the portion sizes were perfect. This tour was a great way to try some local spots and also learn some cultural factors too. There wasn't one dish we didn't enjoy and the vendors were all very welcoming.

5.00We just did the food tour with Grace. Still recovering from the amount of food we consumed. If you planning to do the tour don’t eat anything all day. Grace was a fabulous tour guide. Not only we get to taste Georgetown specialties, but we also got to learn a lot about the history and customs of the town and the region. It was fabulous way to spend the evening . I could not recommend it hard enough.

5.00Ken or KK is a friendly and good food guide. Joined this small food tour by chance when my nephew from Singapore unexpectedly dropped from this programme. I had a wonderful 3+ hours walking and eating tour.

5.00Ken was a great guide for our food tour of George Town, Penang. He spoke about not only food but also the history of the area. He made sure everyone was comfortable along the way and each stop was a chance to try new things! Thanks Ken and A Chef’s Tour, highly recommend this if you’re looking for a small group tour and trying many Penang foods! Be sure to come hungry and ready to eat :)

5.00It was a great experience & I tried a lot of food that I wouldn't have ordered from the menu otherwise or that wouldn't have convinced me visually. Everything was very delicious & there were no too crazy food included. Our tour with Sandy was great. She was a good guide & also our group was mixed. You definitely get fed up. And if the portion sizes aren't enough for you, you'll also get some refill. I would recommend doing the tour at the beginning of the stay so that you can use your new knowledge on the following days.
