Pick-up and transfer from Petropolis Terminal Station or your lodging we'll start our expedition on Serra dos Órgãos.
Parque Nacional da Serra dos Orgaos
The first day of Petrópolis Teresópolis crossing is the most demanding. During the 7 km up to Castelos do Açu mountain shelter we gain approximately 1100 meters of altitude. The trail to Açu mountain goes through a dense forest and with a strong ascent to Pedra do Queijo viewpoint. Then the trail gets a little less steep until arriving at Ajax viewpoint, which has natural water supply. After Ajax, we need to face the section considered the most difficult of the ascent to the Açu castles: the Isabeloca mountain. This ascent is named after an alleged passage of Princess Isabel on the spot. Once Isabeloca is over, we’ll cross the Chapadão do Açu, a counterfort, before arriving at the Açu castles.
Morro Do Acu
The view from the top of Açu castles closes the first day with a golden key. From there it is possible to see all Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay in addition to the entire mountain range of Serra dos Órgãos. Overnight mode: Camping at Açú Castles Peak

Morro Do Acu
The second day is undoubtedly the most beautiful of Petrópolis Teresópolis crossing. The entire course goes on an average altitude of 2,000m.
Parque Nacional da Serra dos Orgaos
We’ll cross a valley and then climb to the top of Morro do Marco. The trail follows another section of rock summits, where navigation is complicated until reaching the section called The Elevator. The Elevator is a ladder made of steel rebar stuck to a steep stone that gives access to the summit of Morro do Dinossauro. Once at the top of Morro do Dinossauro, we find the first great view of the Pedra do Garrafão and Pedra do Sino stones. From there we start the descent to Vale das Antas and the trail continues to the summit of Morro da Baleia, where you can see the rock wall of Pedra do Sino, Garrafão and the trail channel where The 'Cavalinho' passage is located. The 'Cavalinho' (The small horse) has this name because to overcome this stone, a movement similar to mounting a horse is necessary. The trail follows the channel until it reveals Pedra do Sino and reach a bifurcation that gives access to its summit and to the Shelter #4.
Pedra do Sino
The Pedra do Sino is the highest point of the crossing with its 2275m of altitude. At its summit there is an incredible 360º view, being possible to see several mountain ranges of the region and Rio de Janeiro city. Overnight mode: Camping at Pedra do Sino Peak

Pedra do Sino
The third day is the least physical demanding of the crossing. The trail follows for approximately 12 km to the Teresópolis park dam, the final crossing point. During the descent we visit two waterfalls. The highlight is the waterfall called Véu de Noiva (Veil of the Bride) of Teresópolis with its 16 meters height. At certain times of the year it gets totally dry. We will finish the most beautifull trekking at Teresópolis City (where we will see the God's Finger Mountain Range rock formation). Drop off at your lodging.

Guides Alex and Gustavo took very good care of our group of 4 people, making us feel very safe. They also taught us about the geology, fauna, and flora of the area. Alex also served delicious meals and took beautiful photos of our family, helping make this trip unforgettable.

we made the crossing of Serra dos Orgãos with an agency guide. everything is very well organized from A to Z, excellent communication with the team. 3 days of hiking (petropolis-Térésopolis). The guide was great, accompanied us very well. It is also he who prepares very good breakfasts and dinners in the shelters. this huge work justifies for me the price (1980 reais per person), which may seem high at first, especially since we sleep in bivouac. but it is justified all the more that the first day we had a second "guide-bearer" who took care of setting up the tents at the first shelter.

The Petro x Teresópolis crossing is a crossing that can be done in 1, 2 or even 3 days. When I take the group we do it in 3 days, we catch the sunrise at the Portals of Hercules and also at the Sino. It's a magical place, For more photos and videos, our group's Instagram @roteiro.de.aventuras

Great agency for nature-lovers. They offer a wide variety of packages. A bit on the pricier side, however they delivered 100%. Great communication. Flawless organisation. Plus, they provided for equipment that I didn't have myself. I did the "Travessia Petrópolis-Teresópolis" out of season and they still organised a private guide for me who is a native of Petrópolis and therefore knew the area inside and out. It was fantastic. And the weather-gods did the rest, as it hardly rained. As to the trek itself, it was a rather challenging one but I wouldn't miss out on this great experience, breathtaking views. I greatly recommend the agency and the trek. Thank You.

The first day is difficult more than 1000 meters of ascent over 8 km. The second is very difficult from a technical point of view. There's climbing. The 3rd day is all downhill and allows to recover. Our two guides Gigi and Guilherme were extraordinary. The weight they carry is phenomenal. They are excellent motivators and excellent cooks. Sleeping on a mattress at the shelter becomes priceless happiness.

The experience was very good, from the meeting with the guides until the last day of the crossing, not to mention that the climate was sensational. Me and a group decided to choose the option of the crossing with accommodation in the shelter plus the food, I will not deny, the food was sensational. Besides the guides being excellent, they ran super well in the kitchen. Juliana, Fabi and Thalles were amazing people, from the care of the crossing to the interest in the group. Super recommend the agency, very organized and super attentive. For those who like adventure and walk a lot, super recommend. Nattrip team thank you for the care and attention.

I could not help but record here on TripAdvisor my experience and satisfaction with the team of Nattrip guides, who coordinated the group where I was to make the crossing of Petrópolis-Teresópolis along the trails of the National Park of the Serra dos Órgãos. They were very professional, dedicated and attentive with everyone in the group, and with other visitors we met on the trails of the crossing, helping with useful information. During the whole journey we will travel through beautiful landscapes with all the safety given by the presence of guides, showing the paths to follow, the dangers to avoid and helping on the walk when necessary. We visited the amazing Portails de Hércules at the end of the first walk (after overnight stay at the 1st National Park hostel). Following the sunrise in the Portals of Hercules is amazing, with the giant rocky walls of the Serra dos Órgãos changing in color, from black, passing through the lilac, to shades of blue and green, all with the first rays of the morning sun inciding on these walls. It is also worth noting to witness the dawn from the top of the Sino Stone, at the end of the 2nd day of walking and overnight stay at the 2nd park hostel. At the end, on the 3rd day, arrive at the beautiful headquarters of the National Park in Teresópolis, take advantage of the existing waterfalls along the trail and finish with a nice meal at the Viva Italia restaurant in Teresópolis (on the top of the main street of the city, just after the town's craft fair. Worth people of Nattrip! Great moments, great company, which allowed us to make the most of the program.

I have no words to describe the experience! On the road, it's challenging and extremely rewarding! Walking and looking side by side and seeing infinity has no price. The guides Thales and Jessie were always courtesy, in addition to demonstrating a lot of knowledge of the region, giving interesting information about the fauna, flora and history were always patient with the group. The meals offered were capricious and delicious, and the shelters are a delight with a rustic vibe that fits too much with the adventure. And what a wonderful starry sky, you could see the dust of the stars with the naked eye. Note 1000 for everything, including would do it again!
