Dominica is the only country in the world where the sperm whale resides all year long. Just a short boat ride brings you into contact with the world's largest toothed animal in the calm turquoise Caribbean Sea.
Whale watching operators follow strict codes of conduct, minimizing any disturbance, and never “luring” the whales. On the rare occasion when the whales may be elusive, you’re sure to see the acrobatics of hundreds of Spotted and Spinner Dolphins. Also Humpbacks Whales,Pilot Whales and other whales have been seen during our Cruises.

Departures: Daily at 9.30am and 1.30pm We also speak German and are back at your Cruiseship on time.
Our Boat
With our 24ft open keel boat, 2x 60Hp 4 stroke silent engines, we can come close to the whales without disturbing them. Our boat is designed for small groups and families with a max of 8 guests.

Join us on our brand new Boat from PH Whale Watch Dominica and watch the Sperm whales and Dolphins. A local Guide will give you all information. It gives you also a great view of the island when going north with our boat. This is a Government Approved Tour (safe in Nature), so you are also able to do this tour when you come in by Cruise Ship. We only pick up from the cruise ships in Roseau. All other guests we meet at the meeting Pont, the ferry Terminal in Roseau. We do not pickup from hotels or any other locations! Its only whale Watching. Its not allowed to swim with the whales.

5.00This was a great experience and time well spent while on vacation. We traveled about 3 miles offshore and after searching for about 1 hour, we saw them - sighting after sighting of beautiful whales. This is a “must do” activity at least once in a lifetime in my opinion. Our captain and his first mate were awesome guides and ensured we were comfortable and had the information needed on the whales. Thank you PH Whales for a great experience!

4.00Employees tried several locations to find whales but we never did find any. Plenty of dolphin sitings. Employees provided bottled water and rum. On one occasion the boat would not start for a few minutes. Upon return to dock had to wait approximately 15 minutes to tie up as visitors for the weekend celebrations were blocking the area and would not move. This was out of the control of the company. Security officers had to get involved. Our concern was getting back to the cruise ship on time.

5.00We absolutely loved this! It was a beautiful boat ride to see the gorgeous coast of Dominica and then we saw sperm whales, dolphins and flying fish! Brittany and Ceelo were great hosts and we had a blast. Thanks so much!

5.00If you like small groups and good people, don’t look any further—book with these guys. They’re respectful of the wildlife and really know their stuff. We saw dolphins, three whales, and even flying fish. I’d go back any day!

5.00Great service and attitude: The crew did a great job of giving a great experience. They communicate well with other companies and boats out on the water, in a group effort to try to locate the whales and give people a good experience. PH Whales was even willing to go up the coast to find the whales that were spotted closer to Portsmouth. That was a time commitment on their part. We saw whales and had a great experience. I would highly recommend this company. Smaller boat: I did not have any sea sickness problem, but if you are super sensitive to motion, take motion sickness medicine because this is a smaller boat and movement on the water is going to be felt more than on a bigger boat. Sun: The boat has a canopy top to cover you from the sun, but take plenty of sunscreen anyway. Tip them, please: I love to travel and have great experiences. Please tip the crew. Only 50% of our boat tipped them. That's awful and lacks travel common sense and courtesy.

5.00After looking for 2 hours, we had almost given up hope for whales. But then a group of 3 sperm whales appeared in front of our boat. A great encounter. A super skipper, a competent guide and a small group (8 pers.) and the successful whale sighting ensured a successful excursion. Highly recommended!

5.00Great experience. There were only 7 people on the tour with two guides. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The boat is small and is able to get close to the whales. We saw four whales. We were close enough to hear the blows as well as see the whales on the surface. We were served rum punch during the journey as well as bottled water.

1.00We were on a cruise ship. There was no one from the company on the dock. No sign. Someone from the other whale watching tours company told those of us waiting that we were in the right place. The scheduled time passed and still no one. The person from the other company then contacted our boat and we learned they were still a ways away. The boat finally arrived. It was small - maybe 16 feet long and fairly narrow. There was a canopy for sun shade, but it could not cover everyone. We had eaten shortly before leaving the ship. We had arrived early at the meeting location. The boat was late and the tour was supposed to last for three hours. We knew we would most likely need a bathroom within the next three hours. But the boat did not have a bathroom! We are experienced boaters and have owned several boats - all of them with a bathroom. Bathrooms are common, even on small boats. If you are going to take people on a tour right after breakfast or lunch wouldn't you think a bathroom would be important? We declined to go on the tour. We asked for a refund and were told that a bathroom was not included in the description, so there was no refund. Think twice before considering this tour.
