Trip is private in one of our game viewing suvs with big opening windows & sunroof. No need to share the big 25 seaters open truck or be forced to take pictures through a closed minibus window. We go further, stay longer, see more! Our guides are Pilanesberg experts. Spend several hours on a safari, reaching distant parts of the reserve. Lunch at the lodge on a viewing deck overlooking the reserve. There is an option of changing to an open safari vehicle (OSV) for part of you safari. The OSV drives are 3 hours long.

Over the past 10 years, we have conducted innumerable private and small group safari tours for overseas business visitors, families, small groups and single individuals.Timing is crucial. Sunrise (ranges from 5.00am in Summer to 6.30am in Winter) is the best time to see the “Big Cats" and other predators as dawn and dusk are their major hunting times. Drop back to your hotel or airport is 11 hours after pick up. It’s a longish day but being there at dawn makes it worth it!
The views of the reserve and the waterhole where the animals drink from the dining terrace is wonderful and so is the food!

Brunch/Lunch: The sunny dining terrace of Bakubung Lodge has unrivalled views of the reserve and often animals coming closeby
Best vehicle for groups size: We use a large maneuverable SUV or a combo of comfortable mini-coach and open safari vehicle

Early morning departure to get to Pilanesberg Game Reserve for the Sunrise Game Drive. This allows sightings for the early morning activities of the animals before the day warms up.
Duration: 11 hours: Getting to Pilanesberg from Johannesburg or Pretoria takes 2 1/2 to 2 hours. So you will be in the reserve for 6-7 hours.
Lunch/Brunch: The sunny dining terrace of Bakubung lodge affords wonderful views of the reserve and often animals in close proximity
Best vehicle for the group: We use either a large maneuverable SUV or a combination of mini-coach and open safari vehicle

5.00We had a fantastic day at Pilanesberg Game Reserve, our tour guide was named Anton, an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced tour operator! Even though we had to set off especially early to make it to the park for opening it was definitely worth the early rise as we were lucky enough to see 3/5 of the big 5! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to have an amazing wildlife experience.

5.00Fabulous full day safari with our guide Anton. He was very knowledgeable and spent a long time tracking the animals for us. We saw so many right beside the road including giraffes, zebras, buffalo, impala, hippo out of the water, cheetahs and, finally, the elephants (no rhino that day). He also pointed out several different species of birds throughout the visit. A good lunch was included and he let us sleep on the drive back to Pretoria - much appreciated after 12 hours! He also insisted on driving us around the Union building in Pretoria on the way back to our hotel. Anton is a very friendly guy who we would highly recommend.
Amazing experience. Can't wait to go back!

5.00The guide: William (Willie) was amazing! Willie delighted us with a wealth of information about all facets of South Africa and surrounding regions, from the time we were picked up until the time we were dropped off. From politics, to animals, mining operations, trees...you name it! As a bird enthusiast, he was also able to give us tons of information on the flying critters more than the average big animal tour might. The reserve: Seeing the animals in open fields was spectacular! We were lucky enough to see rhino, elephant, giraffe, jackyl, hippo, springbok, wildebeest, zebra, impala, baboon, a ton of birds, and more. The lunch was excellent and everyone met along the way was friendly. I can't wait to come back!

3.00Make sure you understand if you are going to be in safari vehicle vs. A private vehicle. We were not in a raised safari vehicle. That made it difficult to see over high grass. 6 hour + 5 hours commuting and 3 adults stuffed in back seat all trying to take pictures. Pilanesberg was great, circumstances were uncomfortable which detracted from experience.

5.00We had an amazing day guided by Norman. We saw 4 of the Big 5 - no leopard on this occasion but we saw many other animals. Birds in abundance, animals in their native setting. Nothing was too much trouble for Norman making sure we had an amazing experience. Highly recommended.
