We start at the south end of the aqueduct and soon enough you are paddling across this famous feat of engineering which stands at an impressive 126ft above the Dee River. Although this style of canoeing is deemed a calm and peaceful session the look over the edge is a breathtaking sight, but with our staff on hand, there is nothing to worry about, especially with a safe footpath on the opposing side.
After this it is then a breeze down the canal, learning and developing skills across the way with some games and challenges thrown in. Our endpoint is the Sun Trevor pub which is a great location for some good quality grub and a cold drink.

5.00Myself and 4 of my friends had a lovely time canoeing over the famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct. After arriving at the meeting point we were greeted at the car by our friendly guide Harry who initially informed us how the afternoon would pan out. We were given a short briefing on safety, kit and how to paddle and steer the canoe. We were all given a life vest and a paddle and set off on a short walk down to the canal and the starting point. Harry helped us get aboard the canoes and we were off!! He was very entertaining and gave us some history of the canal whilst also telling some funny tall tales (but also made sure everyone was OK at all times) After enjoying about a half hour canoe we arrived at the aqueduct and floated across...it was a very peaceful and relaxing experience and not at all as scary as it looks. A couple of my friends were a little apprehensive before hand but they absolutely loved it. We then turned around and had the opportunity to go back over the aqueduct for another unforgettable experience. We then had a little pit stop where we could get some refreshments or spend a penny or walk down to underneath the aqueduct for a cool view. We then got back in the canoes and made our way back to the starting point. Thank you for a lovely afternoon Harry and for looking after us. Barry Chuckle.

5.00Such a lovely afternoon with Mike and Jay leading us over the aqueduct. They blended the right amount of instruction and quietly letting us experience the adventure of canoeing with a break for history and a little walk across the aqueduct after paddling it. It felt safe and fun. Thank you bearded men (though I think Jay’s beard needs a little work).

5.00Sol really knew his stuff!! Gave clear instructions and advice, with much humour, putting us at ease! Highly recommended, fun, safe, reassuring and the views were amazing. It was quite tiring, yet relaxing, totally worth it and tranquil. Pics don't do justice. Those ducks are really very special 🤭😉

5.00Booked the canoe aqueduct via Virgin experiences for my fiancé’s birthday. Harry was friendly, approachable and made the afternoon fun. The weather was good for us and the views were great. Lovely experience and would recommend.

4.00Overall it was an amazing experience and something I believe anyone who is able to should do. The views are fantastic. The canoeing can be quite difficult if you havent done it before but there are great instructors to help if you need. Both Mikes were very informative and great to talk to whilst on the journey.

5.00An absolutely brilliant half-day canoeing with the family on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct adventure. Harry and Ollie were the perfect guides, providing clear and concise instructions on all aspects of the canoeing experience along with plenty of handy hints and a few jokes. Despite the less than perfect weather, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and really appreciated the cafe stop during the event to pick up hot drinks and snacks.

5.00We had such a lovely time canoeing for my husband’s birthday, it was a really relaxing and enjoyable experience. Our tour guide, Harry, was absolutely brilliant- so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, which made the whole trip even better. He made us feel at ease straight away and clearly loves what he does. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer guide and would definitely recommend this canoeing experience to anyone looking for something fun and memorable.

5.00Our guide Joe was great! Such a fun experience for anybody, even if you’re a beginner as the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The views are beautiful and we really enjoyed it!
