You will be walking with Dr Lillian Cespedes Gonzalez, a PhD historian who has been living and studying in the south of England for 13 years.

(Please note our team has grown in the last 4 years and although Lillian delivers the majority of our tours, there are other guides now all trained by her who are either historians/educators).

During this walk you will learn the history of Portsmouth as a naval city and the impact the development of the Royal Navy had on this town.

We will talk about main events in British history such as the First and Second World War, the Peninsula War, the development of naval warfare and the impact it has had in human life. But also, we will get to experience a beautiful and charming seaside city with lovely views and a character of its own.

Southsea Castle

We will meet by the exterior of Southsea Castle - we will not go inside this attraction. Here we learn about the origin of the fortifications of Portsmouth.

The D-Day Story

We will stop outside D Day Story - we will not go inside - however we will be able to see all the commemorations in relation to D Day and see the last remaining D Day landing craft.

Everything about thosctour was excellent! Michelle was so informative & personable. We enjoyed the history & being able to ask a local about current day as well. We would take this tour again w/o hesitation.

Portsmouth has rich history and it was great visiting some of the historic places. I was amazed to see very old houses built in 1720.

Our guide Lillian was full of useful information and obviously very knowledgeable on her history of Portsmouth and surrounding areas. It felt like having a walk around town with a local friend.
