  It's my first ski experience and got super lucky to go with Hunters. All the communication is very easy while booking and they have the best instructor, Phil McFarlane! He is super patient and explains all the skills in details (he is also super funny!). You can definitely learn a lot from him from different levels. If you can, ask Phil to be your instructor. You won't regret!

• Agni is fantastic, other instructors not so great

  I had ski lessons for four days, and the first three days with Agni were absolutely amazing. She was such a fantastic instructor—without her, I honestly don’t think I would have progressed at all. She made every lesson fun and engaging, while still making sure everyone in the group was learning properly. She paced the lessons really well so no one felt rushed or left behind, and she created such a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Thanks to her, I built confidence and actually started to enjoy skiing. I would recommend Agni to anyone who is starting out, and if I return in the future I would definitely book a one-to-one lesson with her. Unfortunately, on day four Agni had a private lesson booked, so I was moved into another group with a different instructor, George. Sadly, that experience was very different. The lesson mainly involved following him down the mountain, without much explanation of technique or guidance. We were mostly just told to go faster or keep up, which was quite difficult as a beginner. By lunchtime I felt completely overwhelmed and was in tears because I didn’t feel like I was learning anything and just felt left behind. In the end, my partner pulled me out of the lesson and spent the rest of the day teaching me instead, which was actually far more enjoyable and helped rebuild my confidence. Overall, my experience with Agni was 10/10 and she truly made the trip worthwhile. I would highly recommend her to any beginners looking for lessons. I would just suggest that the school keeps a close eye on consistency across instructors, as not everyone’s experience seemed to be as positive—several others mentioned feeling similarly about some of the other lessons and instructors.

  This is my daughters 3rd time having lessons in Borovets, but her first time with Hunters. Phoebe said Phil is very positive and that he believes in people and he's just a great instructor. From a parents perspective he was great at communicating with us all arrangements and even sent us pictures and videos throughout the day. The fact that Phoebe was full of smiles every day is a testament to how great he was. A lovely touch was when he added words to describe each child on their certificates at the end of the week showing he truly cared and got to know them. He also went above and beyond and helped encourage our younger daughter who was not in his lesson and gave advice on how to progress her on her skiing journey. I cannot say enough positive things about Phil. We just hope he's back with Hunters next season as we will definitely book with them so we can have his expertise and passion!

  

  

• Amazing ski school within a great resort with excellent instructors

  I booked lessons, ski hire and lift passaes from Hunters from 1st of March 26 for 3 days for my two boys aged 13 and 8, Hunters really deserve a 5 star review. Thanks again for the great mentoring from one of the ski instructors, Phil McFarlane, my boys loved their time skiing and that is 100% thanks to how fun and enjoyable Phil made it for them. I will definitely be looking at Borovets when i start looking at booking for next year, mainly down to Phil and his brilliant attitude, my 8 year old described Phil as kind, funny and the best skiing instructor ever. My boys developed skills so quickly with excellent skiing techniques taught by Phil. I would highly recommend and happily book Hunters again. Hopefully we will see Phil again next year, my boys have got the skiing bug now ⛷️

  

  

• Best Skiing Experience for Beginners

  I did a 3 day ski trip in borovets and thank god I booked Hunters Ski school. BEST DECISION! Our instructor was Phil and he was so nice, patient and funny. He kept everyone motivated and was able to recognise everyone's weak points. We were a group of six people and all were total beginners (yes 'were' because now we all have leveled up), it was the first time for all of us trying out skiing. On the 2nd day itself, we were able to try the blue slope. Phil teaching methods are easy. He knows how to push you and gave everyone personal feedback. Everyday we tried a new slope so that it is not boring. He also helped us click good pictures and mde cool videos of us skiing. He made sure everyone was always well rested and well fed by giving break when required. Even the ski manager Ivan and the storage manager Roman were very sweet and accomodating. They were very nice and were always available for us. At this price point, they offer so much services and everyone is very wam. Highly recommend it!

  We have been to Borovets 4 times with our kids and always had a positive experience. We previously booked using a different provider. Hunters felt a step above. Small class sizes, the most amazing friendly instructors who went above and beyond. Our first day was not great weather wise and they offered extra hours even though we all got a full day skiing. Mishu and Danni were the best. Funny, caring and extremely helpful. We can’t wait to come back again and hopefully have them again. 5 stars plus from us.

  

  

  

• Rude staff at ski hire

  We’ve just returned from our first ski trip and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with Hunters. We paid for three days of ski hire and ski school, choosing their premium package. On the first day, during the fitting of our ski equipment, no one offered any help or advice on how the boots should fit the place very busy, and we were left to figure it out ourselves. As a result, I was given boots that were three sizes too big. After one day of skiing, I returned to the hire shop to ask for smaller boots. Instead of being helped, two members of staff shouted at me and were extremely rude, to the point that my husband had to step in. At no time were we rude or demanding we were simply asking for assistance. The staff’s attitude and behaviour were completely inappropriate and unnecessarily aggressive. I would not recommend renting from Hunters, especially for beginners.

  We as a family of four had a terrible experience with Hunters. Initially there was a problem with paying the deposit on the website. I should have gone elsewhere at that point. We were told to go the day before our equipment hire was due to start to get fitted up. We arrived and the miserable man in the rental unit refused to fit us up and told us to just come back the next day. Having returned the next day after several attempts the rude man fitted our equipment with no assistance or communication. On returning the equipment at the end each day staff would lie about on benches and not move as we put equipment away around them! Broken ski poles were not replaced. Lessons were poor, disorganised ( we missed time as we were not told where to meet, assuming as it was the same company we would be collected from the ski hire) and the instructor was rude calling members of our group 'the Jews'. I have written to the company and they haven't even bothered to respond.

  Hi... we went skiing for first time with my partner. Booked with hunters and for ski school to my delight we wer the only beginners so we got Neil Burton to ourselves.. he is amazing and we had a laugh with him.. he is super patient and got us onto a blue slope second day of beginners who couldnt even put skiis on haha...I would highly recommend him and I'm so coming back to get him to teach the family haha.   Just back from one of the best holiday experiences of my life! Started the week with only 6 hours of very beginner knowledge on a dry slope, to leaving 6 days later skiing down the black slopes. What a resort to learn, with wide greens and blues right at the top of the mountain to find your feet at your own pace. But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the Hunters lot. I worked with Phil mostly as he took me under his wing and tailored his teaching to better my learning every day. His patience, encouragement, and light hearted but structured teachings helped me learn the quickest I’ve ever learned anything ever. I will forever be grateful for him teaching me my new passion and skill! He’s also just a fun and friendly guy who quickly became one of our group of 10 as we all loved him so much. Thank you so much Phil! Big thanks to Yuri and Neil too, two another amazing instructors full of knowledge, patience, and kindness. I honestly couldn’t recommend hunters more, from the depot to the slopes, to the restaurant and transport recommendations in and around town, they truly just adopt you and look after you as if family, in the beautiful resort of Borovets.
