Bennetts Bluff offers one of the most breathtaking views along the road to Glenorchy. This quick stop delivers a dramatic panorama of Lake Wakatipu, Pigeon Island, and the towering mountains beyond. No walking required — just step out, take in the scenery, and snap a few unforgettable photos. A must-stop viewpoint that captures the essence of the Southern Alps.

This scenic roadside stop offers a clear view of Pig and Pigeon Islands — two untouched gems sitting quietly in the middle of Lake Wakatipu. Framed by dramatic mountains, it’s a peaceful spot to pause and appreciate the scale and serenity of the landscape. While quick and simple, the view here often becomes one of the most photographed moments of the trip.

Glenorchy Waterfront Reserve

Nestled near Glenorchy, Diamond Lake is a peaceful alpine spot framed by majestic mountains and native bush. Known for its clear waters and tranquil atmosphere, it’s an ideal place for a short stop to take photos, enjoy a picnic, or simply breathe in the fresh mountain air. This hidden gem adds a quiet, natural touch to your day before continuing your journey.

SUBJECT TO ROAD & WEATHER CONDITION: The drive along Paradise Road offers stunning views of rolling farmland, towering mountains, and native bush as you approach the famous “Paradise” sign. This iconic spot marks the gateway to some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking landscapes, featured in many films and outdoor adventures. We can also visit Lothlorien — the enchanting forest filming location from The Lord of the Rings. Please note that access beyond the sign is subject to weather and road conditions, so plans may change accordingly. It’s a great place to pause, take photos, and appreciate the peaceful rural beauty before continuing your exploration.

As you leave Arrowtown, ascend the Crown Range — New Zealand’s highest main road — winding through spectacular alpine landscapes. The Crown Range Lookout offers sweeping panoramic views of rugged valleys, golden tussock-covered hills, and shimmering lakes below.
