Turmi
On this day, we look forward to your arrival at Jinka airport where your tours team will be waiting you at the exit door of the airport. Then, you will be driving through to the Key Afer local market to see the main people of the Benna tribe , hammer tribe and Tsemay tribes in what promises to be an ultimate cultural immersion as the different tribes coincide with each other in the form of an earthy exhibition. We are sure that you will enjoy learning from our guide about the significant aspects of the culture behind these different tribes, take vibrant photos with their unique aesthetic that they will share with you as well as getting to interact with the people of said tribes, yourself, up close and personal. Then, we proceed to spend the day at the local village style town of Turmi where the Hamer people lives for your further immersion into the tribal ways. Food stops will be made according to your preference throughout the day.
Overnight at resort in Jinka (arranged by us).
On this day, we depart nice and early in the morning for a 65 km (1 hour) drive to Karo Korcho village and meet the Kara people who reside by the Omo River. The Karas' are a small tribe with an estimated population between 1,000 and 3,000, they live along the east banks of the Omo River in southern Ethiopia and practice flood retreat cultivation. The crops that are grown by them are sorghum, maize and beans. You will have a genuine interaction with the Karo people who are famous for their intricate body and face paintings. You can get your face and/or body painted in Kara style where our guide will explain what the designs symbolize to them.
Turmi
We then drive you to Turmi for your own lunch arrangement. After this however, you may then visit a tribal market on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday) where you get to witness relics and ornaments unique to these tribes and their history.
Jinka
Then, on the way back to Jinka, you may also attend a tribal ceremonial event such as the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional), or Evangadi Dancing Ceremony (optional) all of which, we are SURE will excite you in regard to being traditional in this part of Africa. Finally, we continue with a 130 km (2 hours), scenic drive back to Jinka.
Mago National Park
We take an early morning, day excursion to the famous Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of the exotic ethnic groups in Ethiopia. They live in very low huts made of straw leaves. The women like to wear terra cotta on their enormously stretched lower lips and ear lobes. The most unique photos can be had with them as your guide will mediate your welcomed interactions with them. As the time permits throughout this short but eventful day, you might also spot / drive past some amazing animals of the national park.
Jinka
Return to Jinka airport for your departure by flight back to Addis Ababa, or as arranged by you. This ends the trip/tour.
