This is a unique opportunity to meet a lovely, local couple and learn about Puerto Rican cuisine and culture. Their beautiful countryside home where your Puerto Rican cooking class takes place is located about 1 hour from San Juan or Ponce. Rafi and Lela are a lovely couple who come from large families (Lela has 32 in her immediate family!) that enjoy food, cooking and partying! Rafi learned to cook from his father and everyone in Lela's family is passionate about cooking or barbecuing. They recently converted their house with a stunning view of the mountains and sea into a B&B. They are excited to host guests for a Puerto Rican cooking class in their home and share their culture and cuisine with them!

Join Rafi and Lela for a Puerto Rican cooking class near San Juan. They will welcome you into their countryside home (and B&B) in Cayey with a ginger or lavender lemonade or passionfruit mimosa! Enjoy your drink on the deck as you take in the stunning view of the mountains and sea that surround you. With a basket in hand, gather vegetables and herbs from the garden that you will use for your seasonal Puerto Rican cooking class. In their kitchen, Rafi and Lela will teach you the secrets of cooking traditional Puerto Rican comfort food from recipes passed down through generations in their families. You will learn to cook three dishes made from local and seasonal Puerto Rican ingredients. Your cooking lesson lasts about an hour and a half after which you will sit down to enjoy your meal at their communal kitchen table or dining room or outside, weather permitting.

5.00My boyfriend and I had the best time cooking with Rafi. He was informative, kind, and the perfect host. We stayed for a little over 2 hours and it was the perfect time. We made local dishes and he was kind enough to send us the recipes after so we can make it at home. It was just the three of us which created an intimate and hands on experience. I could not recommend this enough, it was the highlight of our trip.

5.00Went up the mountain on a Monday morning with 3 college friends where we found Rafi preparing for our arrival. First of all, their home is stunning inside and out! Rafi was so gracious, patient, intelligent, and fun to learn from. He put us to work, explaining everything as we went and we created delicious food while listening to music, sipping on beverages. Everything was so good and we had the best time chatting about life! Great memories!

5.00What a wonderful experience for my husband and I on our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were greeted by Leila who welcomed us into her home. We got a tour of the views and gardens with everything they have growing before beginning lunch. We were able to take our time and learn how to cook a couple appetizers, rice and beans, a delicious chicken dish (I don’t eat pork and they were more than accommodating with a couple options to choose from), salad, and coconut ice cream to finish with coffee. We had a lovely afternoon and felt like we were visiting an old friend. Highly, highly recommend.

5.00It was incredible! We felt welcomed as if we were part of their family. The experience is all hands on with their gentle guidance and expertise as you’re cooking your meal. The views are to die for and the ambiance is so cozy that makes you wish you could stay. Even as a local I left with a vast knowledge of simple and delicious dishes that now I can do at home and share with guests, friends and family. If there’s leftovers they’ll even packed them in a doggy bag for you. He even gave us a sample of spices that they use to marinate steaks with! I’m definitely recommending this experience to others.

5.00The culinary experience was exactly as described, only better! Our host Layla invited us into her scenic home, shared much knowledge of her plantings, and taught us about traditional cuisine. It was a great ‘hands on’ experience.

5.00My wife and I always find a cooking class when we travel and this one ranks right at the top. Lela is amazingly friendly and easy to talk to. She runs the class from her B and B which is gorgeous with spectacular views. The class is in a home setting, which makes it feel intimate and authentic -- it feels like cooking with a friend. A fantastic experience and highly recommended.

5.00This as the best experience we had on our trip to Puerto Rico! The hosts were very welcoming and wonderful people! Neither of us wanted to leave! The fresh ingredients some from their home made the meal delicious. The view of the mountains and the sea while you enjoy a drink and some food adds to the beautiful experience! The next time I am in Puerto Rico I will absolutely be coming back to visit them! I would recommend this experience without hesitation!
