Bang Pa In Palace
Following hotel pick up from Bangkok city area hotel at 8 am by English speaking guide start your private Ayutthaya day tour. Your first stop will be Bang Pa In Palace. Bang Pa-In palace the summer palace of the Thai kings. It is located about 15 km south of the city of Ayutthaya and 50 km north of Bangkok at the Chao Phraya River. It was named after the island on which it was erected and which lies at a current loop of the river. Originally the palace was built around 1600 by King Prast Thong, who was also born here. All subsequent kings used this palace until the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, during which the palace was also destroyed. King Mongkut, Rama IV, revived this place. He and his son, the successor King Chulalongkorn (Phra Bat Somdet, Rama V) had built a new palace with many European elements. Before Mongkut became king, he enjoyed an education as a monk, which led him on extended journeys not only through Thailand but above all also to Europe. His son opened Thailand to the West.
Wat Mahathat
Believed to be the spiritual centre of Early Ayutthaya Period, Wat Mahathat was the royal ceremonial ground for both religious and non-religious affairs before King Trailoknat replaced it with Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Built before Ayutthaya became the Siamese capital, the temple features a Khmer-style prang (now collapsed) which used to enshrine a miniature casket containing the Buddha’s relics (now on display at Chao Sam Phraya Museum). Apart from the principal prang, Wat Mahathat is the site of the lone Buddha's head entrapped by the roots of an overgrown banyan tree – today a popular icon of Ayutthaya. The head is closely guarded around the clock, and even the slightest gesture of disrespect (e.g. taking photographs while standing over the Buddha’s head) will not be tolerated.

4.00Overall, the experience was good. There was a lot of things to see and so by the afternoon we were a little tired and asked to cut the tour short. We still saw the remaining sites, just didn't spend much time at each location. For reference This tour happened to fall at the end of a 3-week trip to Thailand that had originally been planned as one of our first tours, however due to an emergency at home we had to postpone our trip and move things around. Needless to say, we were "temple'd out" at the end of 3 weeks in Thailand. However, since these were ruins of ancient temples it was different than others we had seen. The summer Royal palace was also very beautiful grounds, but we would have rather just gone by ourselves as it doesn't need much explanation to see and enjoy the beauty of the place. Our guide was very friendly and helpful, however even though he spoke English in didn't understand it very well so some of our follow up questions were not understood. this made it challenging to have an interactive discussion related to the tour. We enjoyed the door-to-door service since this is at least 1.5 hours outside of town and without a car its difficult to get to. Lunch was not great but did feed us so can't complain overall.

5.00My day with Ketsiree was wonderful. She was a fantastic guide and my tour was the highlight of my trip! She was knowledgeable about all of the sites and even took me to a Michelin star local dessert house, as well as a local market for souvenirs. The driver was wonderful too. Always punctual and there when we needed her. Highly recommend!

5.00It was very interesting to see the sites of the old capital of Siam. My tour guide from Mam Holidays was Miss Siriwaritsara Petcharapan. Siri went well above and beyond the scope of a tour guide. She was a wealth of information about Ayutthaya. I would recommend the tour and Siri to everybody.

5.00Excellent experience. Our guide, Miss Supatsara Wonghong, was very good. Knowing history, but also good places to eat, shops, advices. Very kind and warm, it was a tour where we saw important parts of history and traditions. If you like a complete trip, with the right guide, this is the one.

5.00We have decided in last minute(on Saturday evening for Sunday) to take a private tour to Ayutthaya and were not sure it can be managed in a such short time. But in the morning well advance before agreed time our guide Miss Supatsara was already waiting for us. She was very attentive to our preferences for trip schedule and a focus of the tour. We enjoyed very much in depth information about history, current situation, daily life in Thailand she has shared with us. She was extremely kind and helpful in any aspect. It was a great day for us and closing of our travel through south east Asia. Highly recommendable!

5.00This tour with our guide Rose was excellent! We had a fun-filled day learning about the history of temples and and ancient ruins of Ayutthaya. Rose is filled with knowledge and she enjoyed sharing it as we visited each location. She also took many photos of us. A private driver in an air-conditioned car would pick us up and drop us off at the entrance of each location. Also included with the tour was a delicious Thai lunch at an air-conditioned riverside restaurant which was a nice reprieve from the heat. Yes, it’s very hot there! We enjoyed our day so much with our guide Rose that we immediately booked her for another private tour for a different day! Thank you Rose for an amazing day and we look forward to our next tour with you!
