• Excellent 1 ½ days in Hong Kong – authentic and beautifully curated

  We spent 1.5 days with Stephanie from HK a la carte exploring Kowloon and the New Territories, and it was a very rewarding experience. What we appreciated most was the depth of context she provided. The visits to Wong Tai Sin Temple, Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden were not just sightseeing stops — Stephanie explained the religious background, architectural principles, and cultural significance in a clear and structured way. This made the experience much more meaningful. The cycling day in the New Territories was a particular highlight. Crossing the small ferry at Nam Sang Wai and exploring the Tang Clan heritage sites in Kam Tin and Ping Shan gave us valuable insight into rural history, clan structures, and everyday life beyond the urban skyline. The balance between movement, historical sites, and conversation was very well managed. Stephanie is knowledgeable, well organized, and thoughtful in her explanations. The exchange was both professional and personal, which we appreciated very much.   A superb team of passionate Hong Kongers who are able to share what they know well and love perfectly: knowledge, anecdotes and fun. Thanks to them, we took the subway, the Star Ferry, the funicular to the Peak and the cable car to the Big Buddha. And we had an unforgettable experience going to Shenzen with its driverless taxis, its drone deliveries. It was a magical day. Our attendants were TOP, professional and extremely pleasant. Thank you very much. I highly recommend them

  Our guide Stephanie, took us on a tour of Hong Kong, introduced us to its history from the opium wars to the return to China and the current geopolitical situation. Victoria Peak, the Tram, the Ding Ding, the "Lane", the Square Statue, the Central District.... a busy and very rewarding day. Stephanie is passionate and shares her experience of these places. Stephanie sent us a very detailed account of that day, which we appreciated. Thanks a lot. We will not fail to recommend "Hong Kong à la carte" to our loved ones who want to go discover HK. Nice discovery.

  I spent a very full day with Alexandra and she sets the gold standard as a well-organized, professional guide. She is pleasant, easy to be with and attuned to my curiosity and interests about this unique city. She is loaded with information about architecture, feng shui, religious temples and history. She navigates through the crowds with aplomb to make traveling through the city very easy. She shared helpful tips as I was preparing to do some sightseeing on my own. As a solo traveler, these things were very important to me. I was amazed she sent me a recap of our day tour together. I’ve never had a guide do that for me.I can’t recommend HK à la carte highly enough.

  I highly recommend this tour company! Stephanie guided us on a wonderful day of hiking and exploring in Hong Kong. My husband and I are in Hong Kong for the first time and wanted to explore something other than shopping malls. Hong Kong is beautiful with the mountains and water. The trip by subway, bus, taxi was seamless. Along the hike, she shared her knowledge and love of Hong Kong. Swimming in the China Sea was a highlight followed by a delicious lunch on the beach. Sharing the trail with the local cows and school groups added to the adventure. We loved it so much we booked another hiking tour with Hong Kong à la Carte before we leave!

  

  

• We Thought We Knew Shenzen. We Didn’t

  Eight well travelled HK ladies ( origin countries Switzerland, South Africa, the US, UK and Australia) spent a day in and around Shenzen with expert guide Stephanie and learnt A LOT. We also had a lot of giggles and finished the day with guided bargain shopping at Lowu commercial centre. From delicious robot prepared coffee to 700 AD ancient city walls and pretty old Hakka villages, we spanned centuries in what is now the most digitised city on the planet. It would not have been possible without Stephanie. She organised our fast train tickets, got us taxis on the ground, adapted the itinerary as necessary and provided wonderful insights. Extra points for good public toilets! Thank you Stephanie

  Our 5-hour tour of Hong Kong's central city was hosted by Alexandra and we can't recommend her enough. She provided us with just the right amount of history of the country and the places we visited - not too little to be superficial, and not too much to be boring. She was articulate, knowledgeable and she was very accommodating of our needs. Five stars...!
