The day was perfect, the Star guide was very efficient and organized. In addition to speaking good English, he had a lot of knowledge of the sites visited (Temple Suspended and Yungang Caves), showing old photos and telling interesting facts.

Perfect tour to visit both the suspended temple and the caves of Yungang. Sara, the guide who accompanied us, turned out to be very nice and prepared.

Nancy is not only an experienced guide with the right amount of empathy, but above all a person who puts a great passion into what she does. We managed to enjoy, despite the large crowds, the monuments (Caves and Hanging Temple), not having to rush in the search for tickets and in endless lines. In addition, he told us very interesting stories about the history and traditions related to China.

Nancy was really helpful and friendly in answering all our questions. It offers a lot of interesting information and does not lead you to buy anything, which is appreciable. Thank you Nancy

We booked the tour to start from 9.30am from Datong train station & back at train station at 5.30pm. 2 days before our tour, Nancy contacted us to change our return train ticket to a later timing as the waiting time at the Hanging Temple is going to be very long. We did & changed the return train to a later timing. Our guide Sara met us promptly at Datong train station. The ride to Hanging Temples was about 1hr. During the ride, Sara gave us introduction of Datong City & what we can expect for the day. When we arrived at the temple, there was indeed a long queue (estimated waiting time 2-2.5 hours!!). While in queue, Sara was worried that we will get hungry & got the convenience store to "deliver" some sausages for us. We queued for 1.5hrs to reach the base of the temple. Very beautiful temple but the climb was bit scary, definitely not recommended to someone with a weak hear :) After we came down from the temple, Sara introduced some local snacks for us to buy & eat in the car ride to Yungang Grottoes. Had a wonderful time at the grottoes with Sara's detailed explanation. Our tour ended when Sara sent us back to Datong station with ample time to have a dinner inside the train station before our train ride back to Beijing.

Great guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and great English. Also found great noodle place for lunch. Unfortunately the driver stunk very badly (body odor) and the car smelled like rotten pickles the entire long drives. I had to have window down to breath and hold my nose. Tiur operator, teach your drivers basic hygiene please.

I booked two days with Nancy and it was by far the best way to see Datong. Datong is a hidden gem, with almost no western tourists. But in July / August, there are thousands of Chinese tourists. The key attractions are the Hanging Monastery and the Grottos. The Hanging Monastery is definitely a bucket list destination. Nancy was great we chatted easily all day about everything and anything. Without her the detail and context of the Monastery would have been lost. The next day, I left the itinerary completely up to her. We went 45 minutes out of town to see the forgotten sections of the Great Wall - an earth mound in a corn field. We then dropped in completely unannounced on a couple living in a cave house in the village. They were so welcoming an gave us fresh vegetables from their garden. Later we visited an abandoned military village. The amazing thing here was the tiles on the wall depicting the one child policy and the consequences of more than one. Nancy is a terrific guide and a wealth of information. I thoroughly enjoyed my two days with her, learning so much about Datong and China in general.
