Skerdi was my tour guide for the 1/2 day - he was a great guide. He picked me up at the hotel at 9am - he had contacted me via text the day before to confirm. The drive to Kruja was about an hour and Skerdi shared some of the history of the areas we drove through. He dropped me off by the Kruja bazaar and gave me free time to shop while he went to park the car. It was nice to walk through the bazaar - most shops looked to have similar items and many shopkeepers tried to invite me into their shops to look at all they had on offer. After the bazaar, Skerdi led me up to the castle and we proceeded to go into the Skanderbeg museum where he walked me through the museum's main displays. Fortunately the museum is not too large and I found it very interesting to learn more about Skanderbeg's history and impact he had on the times and surrounding areas. After we finished at the museum, I had some free time to explore the castle grounds - I took in the views from the fortress at the back of a parking lot located by some restaurants. Once we finished at Kruja, we drove to Sari Salltik Cave. Unfortunately the weather had not been ideal this day so the views from this high point were cloud filled. It was interesting to learn about the significance of the cave but I think I probably could have missed this and just done a half day at Kruja. On the way back, we stopped for lunch at Horizont - great grilled meats were on offer and I tried the local dessert kabuni (has meat in it). I had contacted the tour company in advance to check if they could accommodate my request for different pick up/drop off points, which they kindly supported. I was dropped off around 2:30pm at the airport which is probably half way between Kruja and Tirana.
