• Wonderful golden night to visit friends

  This will be my third visit to Kyoto. It's also the second time we've met up with Ayane at a "man" teahouse thanks to Yukari's heartwarming arrangements. If you count, this is the fifth time I have met Ayane. We have already had a long relationship since we started going to Kyoto every year. Once again, I would like to thank Yukari from the bottom of my heart for her help and excellent interpretation. Thanks to Yukari, I was able to share my thoughts in more detail and accuracy.   During our family trip to Kyoto last year-end, we hoped to experience a private geisha performance in a traditional teahouse (ochaya). Initially, our hotel concierge informed us this would be impossible since we could only arrive on December 29, when geishas begin their annual holiday break. However, while researching online, I discovered Exclusive Kyoto and was impressed by their TripAdvisor reviews. To our delight, they were able to arrange this cultural experience for us! We arrived at the ochaya on schedule and were warmly welcomed by Yukari-san from Exclusive Kyoto. She led us to a spacious and cozy private room with a designated performance area. When the maiko (apprentice geisha) and geiko (fully-fledged geisha) entered, we were absolutely mesmerized by their elaborate makeup, intricate hairstyles, and exquisite kimonos. Throughout our Japanese dinner provided by the ochaya, they entertained us with traditional dances and games, and graciously answered our questions. Yukari-san provided excellent English translation throughout the evening, which concluded with a photo session. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we highly recommend!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  Thanks a lot for kind and dedicated Yukari-San. With her best help, I can have the reunion with my friend Maiko Masane-San of GionHigashi. That was such an impressive night that we meet again since last summer we came across several times and we made the appointment to meet again this autumn. And luckily with the help from dear Yukari-San, we can successfully meet together at Ochaya Man. And Masane-San was so happy and now both of us are hopefully waiting for the next time next autumn.   The private dinner with geishas in Kyoto was an unforgettable experience. From the warm welcome to the exquisite banquet, every detail reflected Japan's rich culture. The geishas, with their grace and skill, provided a captivating performance of dance and music that transported us to traditional Japan.   No trip to Japan is complete without a trip to Kyoto. Kyoto is filled with charm and history at every turn. Of course everyone's dream is to see maiko or geisha in Kyoto. One's heart skips a beat as you might catch a glimpse of one walking on the street and fumble for your phone to take a snap. Imagine that fleeting momnet of wonder can actually be a full evening of dinner and conversation with a maiko and geiko! Maiko and geiko are trained for years in the arts of dance, conversation and culture. Exclusive Kyoto designed a perfect evening. A scrumptuous keiseki dinner. Our two maiko were both engaging, entertaining and a delight to talk to. Thier dance performances were perfectly executed and breathtaking. We ended the evening with a round of maiko games which were challenging and fun. But practice ahead of time.... those ladies are masterful players! Again, all I can say is treat yourself to the best night you will spend in Kyoto..... • A dream like experience

  A dream within a dream. That was how my experience felt like last night with the private Maiko and Geiko dinner hosted by Exclusive Kyoto at the Gion district in Kyoto It was a seasonal kaiseki dinner course w/ unlimited drinks at an Ochaya. The meet-up itself is a small adventure on its own, and you will then be guided upstairs to a private traditional room I was captivated the moment the Maiko and Geiko, the local term for a geisha and her apprentice, stepped into the room. What had once been a distant memory from my travels in Japan was now a vivid reality, as they served drinks and engaged in delightful conversation. Thanks to the translator, the exchanges flowed smoothly, and I found myself engrossed in the stories being shared. I had to catch up on the kaiseki meal as I got lost in the experience, pleasantly surprised by the ease of communication completely forgetting there was a language barrier. It felt like I was in the Shogun tv series as the Anjin-sama! The performances were truly enchanting, featuring a mesmerizing dance routine accompanied by a shamisen player. As time passed, I found myself noticing the meticulous details, each executed to perfection. The subtle movements and the gentle swaying of the kimono conveyed an intricate story that resonated even without words There were also drinking games with the group which were cause for laughter and banter. At this point, my heart and stomach were already full Very professional and hassle free, especially to a foreigner like me.   My time with Maiko and Geico in Kyoto was truly incredible. The tour offered a wonderful mix of traditional customs and artistic expressions, providing a captivating glimpse into the city's deep cultural roots. I was genuinely awed by the dedication to upholding and honoring this heritage in Kyoto.

  The experience overall, as well as its many parts, were wonderful! The organizers were very thoughtful of food allergies and made sure to fully understand my dietary restrictions and accommodate them as much as possible. A notable part is that, compared to some geimaiko events, this is a private dinner in a small group, giving each participant ample space and time to interact with the artists and enjoy their time. And the music is played live by a geiko specializing in music! With many of them choosing dance over shamisen it is extremely important to support the musicians and not recordings. During the event we were served delicious dinner, had time to chat with the geiko and maiko, watched two different dances and played some classic ozashiki games - it's a wonderful look into the dazzling world of Kyoto's geiko culture.

  Words cannot describe how I felt tonight. I had the extreme pleasure to experience a dinner with Maiko-san and Geiko-sama in Gion Kyoto. With kaiseki food, mai-odori and playing games. I have been fascinated by Gion and Maiko-Geiko district since my first visit to Kyoto 8 years ago. What an honour, honestly! Although it felt almost unreal and I was a bit shy, Maiko-san and Geiko-sama made me feel very comfortable. The chatting was lovely, the whole staff at the tea house was taking care of the finest details and the food was extremely tasteful.   Amazing experience. My wife and I were thrilled. We got to know both the geiko and maiko and enjoyed their performances and games. Food was outstanding. Worth every penny!
