• Perfect shore excursion if you want rainforest + beach in one day

  We booked this excursion while in port on our cruise and honestly ended up really happy with it. It was one of those tours that gave us a little bit of everything without feeling too rushed. If you want to see some of Puerto Rico’s natural beauty but also have time to relax, this is a really good option. The pickup process was smooth, which was something we really cared about since cruise timing can always be stressful. It was reassuring knowing this tour is set up specifically for cruise passengers. Once we got going, the drive itself was beautiful and gave us a nice look at the El Yunque area before reaching the first stop. Las Pailas was definitely one of the highlights for us. We spent about 90 minutes there, and it felt like enough time to enjoy it, take photos, get in the water, and just appreciate the surroundings. The area had that fun, adventurous rainforest vibe without feeling too extreme. Then we went to Luquillo Beach for another 90 minutes, and that part was perfect for slowing down, swimming, and just taking in the view. It was a nice balance after the more active first stop. One thing I really liked was that the admission fees were already included, so there was no extra hassle for entry to Las Pailas or Luquillo Beach. That made the whole experience feel easier and more worth it. The total length of the excursion also worked well for a cruise day. It was long enough to feel like we actually went somewhere and experienced something, but not so long that we were worrying about getting back late. The overall atmosphere of the tour was great. The rainforest stop felt refreshing, scenic, and exciting, while the beach stop had a much more laid-back and relaxing feel. Since it’s a private tour, the crowd size was much better than the typical big bus excursion. That made a huge difference because it felt more personal and less chaotic. The staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. They seemed organized, made everything easy to follow, and kept the day moving without making it feel overly controlled. You could tell they were used to working with cruise passengers, which made the whole outing feel more comfortable. I’d say this is best for people who want a mix of light adventure and beach time in one excursion. It’s especially good for couples, families, or small groups who want something more personal instead of a huge crowded tour. I probably wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with mobility issues or for someone looking for a completely relaxing, stay-in-the-vehicle type of excursion, because there is some walking and activity involved. Overall, we had a really good time and felt like this was a great way to experience both the rainforest side and the beach side of Puerto Rico in a single outing.

  As a solo traveler you always want to be with a tour guide that makes you feel safe and I found that with Yatzel. Not only is he knowledgeable he makes you comfortable. He is now my go to person. Thank you for that lovely experience

  My visit to El Yunque Rainforest was​ truly amazing. I arrived in Puerto Rico aboard the cruise Independence of the Seas​, and everything lined up perfectly. From there, the whole experience just felt easy and relaxed. The scenery was beautiful everywhere you looked, and it didn’t feel rushed at all​, we had time to enjoy the surroundings, take photos, and just be in the moment. Along the way, our guide Y​atzel made the experience even more enjoyable​ sharing local Puerto Rican food recommendations, teaching us a few local words, and pointing out cultural curiosities about the island​. Overall, it was such a smooth and well-​ organized tour, and definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

  My timing was very limited (I was part of Independence of the seas arriving to San Juan) but I got a big part of Puerto Rico with Yatzel's tour. It was fun, well organized and educative. I totally recommend it.

  Yatzel, our tour guide from Hiking Hangeo Tours, was amazing. Punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it for a more private experience than the big groups you go with on cruise offered excursions. He was very helpful and understanding with my skittish fiance climbing through the forest, and sliding down the water slides. He was very understanding of our wants and needs. Never once were we in fear of not getting back in time. I know that's a fear for some. Pick up and drop off was perfect. And everything in between. Don't think twice. It's worth it.

  We had the absolute best experience with Hiking Hangeo Tours. Our guide was Yatzel, it was private a tour so it was just the two friends and I. He took us to the water slides which were awesome and the hike to and from the water slides, through the rainforest, was absolutely stunning. After the water slides, he took us to this shopping strip where there were a plethora of amazing lunch spots. He dropped us off because there was no parking right in front and quickly found us, and pointed out his two favorite spots to eat. The hiking trip was the highlight of our cruise!! 11/10 recommend.   Personal tour guide of the island. Better than cruise monopolized excursions. Don't be afraid, they will get you back to the port time.

  This tour fit perfectly with our cruise schedule. Yatzel was ready to pick us up right when our ship arrived in San Juan, and we were back with plenty of time before departure. The natural water slides were a lot of fun. I liked that locals also hang out in the area which felt authentic but not crowded at all. Before we went down the slides, Yatzel gave us a clear safety talk to make sure everyone felt comfortable and knew what to do. The food at the Luquillo Kiosks was amazing, and the service was excellent. Yatzel gave us a couple of recommendations on where to eat. We ate at Jíbaros and loved it. Bonus! While you wait for the food to be served, go take a walk at the beach behind the restaurants or even take a dip. I really appreciated the pace of the tour. The timing for each stop was well thought out, and we had enough time to enjoy the river, the forest, the beach, and a relaxed meal without feeling rushed.
