Nizwa Goat Market is a lively traditional cattle market held every Friday morning in the historic city of Nizwa, located in Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah region. This vibrant weekly event is technically an extension of the renowned Nizwa Souq, but it serves a unique purpose: local villagers gather here to buy, sell, and barter livestock mainly goats, sheep, and cows, and occasionally, even a donkey or two. Once the capital of Oman, Nizwa remains a cultural heart of the nation, rich in heritage and tradition. Just a short drive away lies the majestic Jebel Akhdar (“Green Mountain”), part of the Al Hajar range, offering stunning mountain views, terraced farms, and cool highland air a perfect complement to Nizwa’s bustling market scene.

We depart early Morning at 5:30 AM, we drive towards Nizwa we first visit the Friday Cattle Market. Friday sees the ancient Omani capital of Nizwa come to life for the weekly livestock market where farmers and traders arrive from as far afield as Salalah with their animals to barter and trade at one of the finest traditional markets in the Middle East. See a Middle Eastern market operating in much the same way it might have done for centuries, with sheep, goats and cattle all traded alongside local honey and dates.

Very interesting experience. Our guide was friendly and respectful, asked what we would like to focus on and pointed out areas of interest that we did not expect. We especially appreciate our guide, Yousef, for going out of his was to help us find items we wanted to buy that were not available at the market.
Cant wait to tour again with Ahmed!

Overall excellent tour. Our guide Muneer was excellent, friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. From Muscat the ride was long but the vehicle was comfortable and had good air conditioning. The fort and market were great and the views from the mountains were stunning. We had an excellent lunch on the mountains before returning ontime to our ship in Muscat. Highly recommend.

We went to nizwa friday early morning to witness the traditional cattle market selling live goats and it was a wonderful experienced. Said is kind and one of our good guide we had ever had. He gave us insight about his country. Absolutely we highly Recommended this trip.

Its was a lovely experienced to witness the cattle market in nizwa. This is a traditional selling of live goats, and it's only every friday. We travelled early morning to reach nizwa on time. Thanks to our guide Said. Highly appreciated!

We went on a friday tour to witness the friday cattle market, witnessing the traditional selling of goats. Then after went to Jebel Akhdar known as the green mountain of Oman. We had a wonderful time, thanks to our excellent guide hamood. Highly recommended to everyone.

Our Friday trip to Nizwa , Jebel Akhdar was incredible. The highlight of our trip was the cattle market, where we witness the traditional live selling of the goats. It was an amazing experienced and we enjoyed our trip. Our guide Mohammed is excellent guide. Highly recommend this trip.

We want to witness the friday cattle market in Nizwa. We went very early to nizwa, we reach there on time. And the Omanis strt selling their goats to other omanis. Witnessing this kind of live selling was incredible. Then after we visited as well the birkat al mouz and irrigation system of Al Kattmyn, then lastly the Jebel Akhdar. We really enjoyed our tour with Majid. I would highly recommend this tour.
