Super beautiful hike along the canyon with stunning views. Until the abandoned village at the end of the canyon. It will take a 5 hours to complete the hike.

Jebel Shams It is known as Jabal Shams because it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman due to its high peak. It is the highest mountain of the Hajar range and the country. The mountain is a popular sightseeing area located 240 km (150 mi) from Muscat.

Jebel Shams

We will depart Muscat at early morning and we will go directly to visit the Jebel Shams. We will have a short time to have a photo stop at Al Hamra views. Then we continue to drive to the top of jebel shams. before we start the balkony walk hiking we will have a photo stop from the grand canyon top view. The balcony walk Enjoy this 5.2-mile out-and-back trail near Al Dakhliyah Governorate, Ad Dakhiliyah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 33 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and walking.

An amazing experience! The guide offered and carried extra water and snacks and was a huge help at the end of the trail when the route to the lake was less obvious. Prepare for three hours each way in the car (the mountain bit windy/bumpy) and about five hours to leisurely do the hike. A clean restroom stop is provided before and after the hike, with more primitive portable toilet options closer to the start. Spectacular views and an interesting abandoned village! Animal lovers will appreciate the goats along the trail looking for a small snack. The hike is at approximately 6500 feet of elevation with many rocky steps going up and down. A fun adventure outside of Muscat!

This was such a lovely experience! While we had backpacks with the supplies we needed, our guide kindly carried extra water and snacks for us. (So technically we didn’t need to bring anything other than ourselves) While the majority of the trail was straightforward, it was extremely helpful to have guidance to get to the small lake after the abandoned village. If you’re interested in that, expect to climb up some larger boulders. Totally doable, but make sure your knees and hips are feeling good before hand. The views were spectacular and it was really interesting to see the abandoned village. For animal lovers, there are multiple goats that hang out hoping for snacks from hikers along the way. Prepare for a three hour car ride each way and approximately five hours to do the hike while leisurely taking photos. The mountain roads are windy and bumpy at times, so take appropriate measures if you tend to get carsick. A clean restroom stop is provided at the village before and after the hike and there are a couple of portable toilet options closer to the start. Really loved this adventure outside of Muscat!

We had a great time doing a balcony walk! The guide knew great spots and overall hike was an amazing experience! The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and shared interesting facts about the place. Highly recommend it!

Hiking in Jebel Shams is incredible. The Balcony walk was amazing, the views were awesome! Our tour guide, Ahmed, was also very good. From pickup, to taking us to the hike and back, it was all very smooth. He gave us all the important details and very patiently waited till we completed the hike and came back.

What a wonderful hike! Totally recommend it to the families who like a bit of exercise and gorgeous views. The walk is only moderately challenging, so perfect for children. Thank you to our guide Ahmed, who took us there and made this day easy and special for us.

Jebel Shams was a great hike an incredible to see the deep wadis, rock formations, historic village remains and the spring water at the end. Youssef was a great guide and was very patient with us as we took extra time to see a world heritage site village and when we needed more time for more coffee :) all around awesome day!

5/5 – Unforgettable trek to Jebel Shams! We had a spectacular trek to Jebel Shams and the experience was really beyond expectations. Our guide, Yassir, was exceptional: helpful, attentive and above all very prepared. Throughout the walk he told us many interesting facts about Omani culture, village history and local life, always with a touch of sympathy that made the day even more enjoyable. The route was impressive and scenic, with breathtaking views of the canyon and truly magical spots. A trekking within reach, but that gives strong emotions and unique landscapes. Highly recommended to those who want to discover an authentic and fascinating side of Oman! 🌄✨

This was an amazing experience with the best guide Yassar. Just the road to Jebel shams was an adventure and the hike had the best View with the canyon the altitude, high steep cliffs and sun. Thank you for a perfect day.
