Majestic Mount Kilimanjaro is the awe-inspiring landmark of Tanzania but you don’t need to climb it to experience its full beauty and the captivating terrain that surrounds it.

This tour is also very unique because it is a Kilimanjaro day trip that gives you the opportunity to scramble up the first leg of the famed Marangu Route, through rainforest twittering with birdlife and chattering, curious blue monkeys. Watch out for a colobus or two!

Mount Kilimanjaro

From Marangu Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Mandara Hut (2,743m/9,000ft) Elevation Gain: 915 meters, 3,000 feet. Leave bustling, colorful Moshi early for the drive to Marangu Gate, the threshold of magnificent Kilimanjaro. It’s just an hour’s drive, but you’ll be captivated by the countryside – coffee and banana plantations, through picturesque Marangu village, with Kilimanjaro rising majestically ahead of you. We’ll register you at the Marangu Gate and then your adventure will begin. At first, the ridged trail is narrow as you wander through the rainforest. It’s lush and misty, with the trees adorned with moss. You’ll also meet tired hikers descending from the summit. Give them a high five for effort. Don’t forget your camera! After basking in the beauty of it, you’ll hike back down to the Marangu Gate where our vehicle will be waiting for you to drive you, tired but happy, back to Moshi. This Kilimanjaro day hike is suitable for most people, even if you’re a little unfit!

I traveled to Africa for the first time last year and took two day trips with Alpha. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He joyfully shared the history and culture of Tanzania and his Masai tribe with me . We did 3 day tours with Alpha! It is very nice to do activities with a real Maasai who shared with us his culture, showed us the country and made us meet very nice locals

I wasnt ready for a summit climb but i didnt want to miss the opportunity of going up the Kilimanjaro. the day hike with Alpha turned out to be the perfect solution. It was so much fun all the way up and back down. Its actually not a difficult hike and I can see why its called the coca cola but i heard its starts getting more challenging from the ascent to the second base camp. We were picked up in a mini van from our hotel at 06.30 and then drove to the gate. After getting a tour of the main office area of the national park which provides information on the mountain and its climbing history, we started our hike. Some people make it in 7 hours return others in 8 hours. During this hike you will pass different vegetations, you have chances of seeing the blue monkeys and some bird life. I was fortunate enough to see an animal i didnt know existed the hyrax. Saw the little fellow twice looking at me from a tree trunk. You also can visit the crater and the waterfall all this depending on your pace as the park closes at 18.00. I can totally recommend this zrip with Alpha

What a fantastic host. I went on a day hike of Kilimanjaro and Alpha made it so much fun, with all the singing, dancing and delicious lunch. Definitely recommend 😊
