Locals agree that Mt Rigi is one of Switzerland’s most favorite places for hiking
Mount Rigi, also known as the “Queen of the Mountains”, is THE mountain peak where Swiss alpine tourism began over 200 years ago. It may not be as high as its opposite peak, Mt Pilatus, but a round trip to the summit of Mt Rigi and a hike along its ridge path with spectacular views is always worth the trip.

We like seeing hidden gems when on vacation and this was definitely one. We loved getting to hike on some lesser traveled pass and get up close and personal to the roaming cows. Having Mark do a bbq in one of the outposts was a wonderful and unique experience. Taking the ferry back was an unexpected bonus that allowed the trip to really show all aspects of the area.
