Pickup from your chosen location or accommodation starts at the planned tour time. Your chosen vehicle for the day will ultimately depend on the weather conditions. Our first choice is always our Mercedes Electric Mini van for comfort and sustainability, but if weather conditions do not suit we will opt to take our Super Jeep. The driving distance to the first location can take 60 mins, dependant on traffic and weather conditions.

Seltún, located in the Krýsuvík geothermal area on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, offers a captivating glimpse into the Earth's geothermal activity. The site features bubbling mud pools, steaming fumaroles, and vibrant earth colors, thanks to the minerals brought to the surface. Wooden boardwalks allow visitors to safely explore the area, getting close to these geothermal phenomena. The fumaroles emit steam and sulfur gases, creating a distinctive, otherworldly landscape. The mud pots, constantly churning and bubbling, vary in color from grey to black, contrasting with the vivid reds, yellows, and greens of the surrounding earth. These colours result from the oxidation of minerals like sulphur and iron. The tour day began with a stop at the Krýsuvik geothermal pools, which were interesting--but the real joy was the hike up to the volcanic site of Fagradalsfjall. This hike was INCREDIBLE!!!! Not only did we have the best guide ever (Thanks, Thomas W.!), but we saw one of the most spectacular sights on our entire trip. The timing of this hike was uncanny--we were able to see steam from the latest eruption, just hours before it erupted. And despite 50mph winds and gusts that felt like we would blow off the crater and ridge, we manage to accomplish a hike that was unlike any other we have ever taken in our lives. Thankfully, Thomas supplied walking sticks to those who desired them and even went above and beyond and took the arm of one of our group so that she felt steadier and less afraid of those brutal wind gusts. Thomas knows all things volcanic and was full of fun facts and interesting information. Thomas took such good care of us and we fell in with him like we had been friends for years. I highly recommend his company and if you are lucky you will get him as a guide, too.

Thomas Warner (CEO of EV Travel) went above and beyond to make our trip special. Not only did he arrange for a wonderful guide (Vala), but he took care of every detail including transfers and updates on weather issues. I would highly recommend using this company (and working with Thomas) for any and all Iceland adventures.
