Before the visit to Silves, be surprised by a pearl placed in a rocky spot over the sea: Senhora Da Rocha Chapel on top of a cliff. Further north, the historic and charming city of Silves with its heritage, colors. Land of Muslim princes and princesses, knights and ancient legends, get carried away by this enchanted region. A fascinating and unforgettable tour through the past, gastronomy and people of Silves. You will visit the great castle of Silves. Further inland, the pace of life changes dramatically as time passes very slowly. Monchique and its mountain offer the opportunity to relax and to enjoy the food and local special drinks, known all over south. The tour ends at Mount Fóia, the highest point in the Algarve with an elevation of 902m.

Capela da Nossa Senhora da Rocha
On the magnificent promontory of Senhora da Rocha, there is the Chapel of Senhora da Rocha. According to historical sources, the Chapel was surrounded by an old fortress (15th century), which dominated the entire coast between Faro and Lagos, and protected the populations and the coast but the fortress was destroyed during the 1755 earthquake.
Silves
Visit to Silves Castle and Silves Cathedral. Entrances not included. You will be introduced to the history and architecture of the city. Walk through the historic area and pass through the municipal market. Opportunity to taste local sweets. Wine tasting, optional at extra cost, will depend on what has been agreed with customers and varies from tour to tour. It may be after lunch or on the return in the afternoon. Lunch in a local restaurant. Not included.

5.00My family and I (81 year old grandmother and three teenagers) took three personal tours with Johnny and had a great time. Both the adults and teenagers enjoyed the tours as well as the information Johnny provided about the Algarve. We wanted to visit the End of the World, Faro, and Silves, and Johnny recommended the best times to see these locations based on local whether conditions and so as to avoid large crowds. The vehicle was comfortable, spacious, and air conditioned. Johnny was on time, friendly, and always happy to answer any questions we had. His recommendations for restaurants and other activities apart from his tours were quite good and we had some very nice meals because of them. We would definitely recommend Johnny and will reach out to him again next time we visit the Algarve.
Johnny was one of the best we ever had.

5.00Johnny (João) gave us an amazing full day trip to several gorgeous places around Lagos (where we were staying). We went up to Fóia, then on to Monchique, Albufeira, and finally Ferragudo where we enjoyed a lovely dinner. We enjoyed having Johnny to point out important historical locations and explain architectural and cultural changes over the years. Being from Albufeira, Johnny was exceptionally comfortable navigating his (well appointed) van through narrow streets and greeting the locals. Johnny gave us countless good tips for dining and shopping, as well advice on what to avoid. His good humour and charm was the icing on the cake. You really can’t go wrong with Johnny! We were thrilled with our day of exploring and learning about each area. What a treat!

5.00We had a fabulous tour with Johnny! He was so knowledgeable about his country and what we were seeing and so attentive to our needs. It was a great day driving from Logos up to Monchique the Albufeiro and Farragudo- smaller towns we wouldn’t have seen the service Johnny so competently provided. Such a fun day!

His passion for Portugal and its’ people and his knowledge of his country’s history and geography were both evident as he shared highlights such as Monchique and Silves with us. Johnny shared many interesting stories and was a wealth of local knowledge, both during and after the tour. I liked it so much, I’m now looking at booking a different tour next week with Johnny! 5.00We were holidaying with two other couples in Albufeira when we selected Johnny’s Tours to take us to / from a vineyard wine tasting. From the moment, he picked us up in his spotless and comfortable minibus, he was the consummate knowledgeable and amusing host. He took us to various beautiful Algarve locations en/route to/from the vineyard all the while providing an informative but not overbearing commentary. A true gentleman and generally just a very nice human being to spend time with. Also, a careful, safe driver. Overall, a top-notch guy / service.

5.00We couldn't decide between Johnny's "Western Algarve" and "Historical Algarve" tour, so we contacted him through his website. This was probably the best decision we made during our vacation. Johnny worked with us to tailor a tour specifically for us. As we got to know each other over the course of the tour, Johnny suggested some other stops along the way that he thought (correctly) would be of interest to us. Johnny is a thoughtful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and engaging guide. Not just a fountain of information and anecdote, but also curious about us and our experiences. We spent the day conversing with him both in the comfort of his air conditioned van and walking around historically and culturally significant towns and landmarks, and came away richer for the experience and feeling like we had just made a very good friend. Do yourselves the favour of contacting Johnny through his website, and let him take you on a tour of the Algrves that you will never forget.

5.00In my search for a tour company, he was the most communicative, very relatable and flexible. The tour itself was beautiful, he knew the breathtaking views that we had to experience, he was detailed when he needed to be and also gave us time to enjoy the scenery.
