Beyond riding a bike for exercise, it is an environmentally friendly means of transport, and it helps us achieve a cultural immersion in the lifestyles and customs of the inhabitants of the towns we pass. This tour is more than a demanding mountain biking activity, it is a historical cultural bike ride, in this we will hear more about the past and present mining of the city of Guanajuato, as well as the importance of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. We will talk about the cultural and natural diversity of the Sierra de Santa Rosa, we will share more information about the people, what they do, what their festivities are like, what trees we find, what plants, what birds, among many other aspects.

We arrived in Santa Rosa de Lima, prepared the equipment and gave the instructions. We crossed the section of the road from Santa Rosa de Lima to Mexicanos which is part of one of the gaps of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.

5.00Great excursion - nice way to get a different perspective on Guanajuato. We had to revise the route due to some road closures, but it actually made it rather exciting - I didn't expect to be riding my bike through the historic center toward Marfil, but it was fun! The Museo Ex Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera is the high point of the tour - it's a beautiful house and grounds, well-worth visiting. This tour with Susana was a wonderful way to get a good deal of exercise AND a clearer understanding of the geography and history of the area. I'm so glad that I did it. Also did two other Cacomixtle tours with Susana: the walking tour of the centro (this provided the perfect overview for how to spend my week in Guanajuato, with great recommendations for food and culture, not to mention a winning personality), and the mining neighborhoods tour, which is essential for getting to know the "real" Guanajuato - outside of the tourist sites, as well as the specifics of the mining industry. And wherever we went, Susana seemed to know every single person in Guanajuato, which made it seem like the friendliest city in Mexico. Don't hesitate to book any of these tours! See Less

5.00A great way to get to know the city. The bike tour was perfect for exploring the most beautiful and unknown corners of Guanajuato. The pace was perfect to learn his story and the guide made the experience even better. Fully recommended!

5.00Susana and Antonio were amazing! My friend and I had the best time on the mountain bike trail! I’m not too experienced in mountain bikes, and there were some fast and challenging spots, especially at the end when you get into town and traffic. We had many stops around the mining towns, and even stopped at a bakery in one of the villages, which was amazing! I HIGHLY recommend this company. It was a lot of fun and learned a lot!

5.00Excellent service, very good communication and punctuality Susanna and Antonio very friendly and knowledgeable of the area, they go into the roots of the village as well as nice steps and the tour very rollable for all levels. It was certainly what we liked the most when visiting Guanajuato.

5.00I arranged a personalized tour with Armando which was a mix of riding up out of town, dirt road climbing, technical single track. Armando met me on time and we had a really great 3 hour ride through varied terrain and great views of Gto. from different vantages. He is a great and interesting guy. I will definitely go out with him again. I can't recommend him enough.

5.00Our family had a great bicycle tour with Armando in the Santa Rosa mountains. The tour was prompt, courteous, and safe. Our family really enjoyed getting to know Armando and learn more about the mountains, the mines, and Guanajuato. Armando humored our fledgling Spanish speakers in the family by practicing Spanish with us. He was fluent in English and spoke perfect English with our non-Spanish speaker. A moderate level of fitness is needed, the biking is mostly downhill with a few gentle uphills. The tracks are technical in a few places, so some basic mountain biking skills are a good idea. Thank you Armando, it was a great experience!
