Alms Giving Ceremony
Pickup from your accommodation at early morning around 5:15 am in March to October and 5:45 in November to February. We rise early to observe the sunrise procession of monks receiving alms and experience offering food to monks. Morning Alms (Sai Bat) is a longstanding tradition in Laos Buddhist culture, and is very unique to Laos. Laos is the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession.
The Morning Market
After morning alms, we visit Luang Prabang morning market. The market lining a couple of quiet streets near the Royal Palace, starts early and is over by mid-morning. It sets up along a couple of side-streets next to one of the city’s many Wats. A butcher and some of the more touristy stalls have actual tables for their wares. But most of the vendors, selling anything from rice, to fresh vegetables, to steamed fish, frogs, and anything else that might be the day’s catch, just set up on the ground.

5.00We went for the private Luang Prabang city tour including alms giving in the morning at 5.30am, morning market, 4 hr guided tour of the sights in Luang Prabang, and a Mekong cruise. Our tour guide Thin was absolutely fantastic. Knowledgeable, he patiently answered all our questions, and best of all, managed to get us to places at quieter times. E.g. took us to the top of Mount Phousie for 12 noon in time for the beating of the big drum. On the Mekong cruise we even stopped at an elephant sanctuary for lunch where we got to feed an elephant. Beautiful sunset and a cold beer on the way back to Luang Prabang after a long day. Could not have been better.

5.00Alms giving to the monks in a respectful environment. We visited most of the Royal Palace and the major temples. A unique waterfall experience. Tony took into consideration our physical limitations and accommodated us. We had a great day!

5.00We had a fantastic and enriching tour of Luang Prabang, a truly mesmerizing World Heritage city. The entire itinerary was well-paced and thoughtfully arranged, allowing us to soak in the city's charm without feeling rushed. What made the experience even better was the excellent service. The team was very responsive from the initial inquiry right through to the end of our trip. As a private tour, we appreciated the flexibility to customize our route based on our interests. A special mention must go to our van driver and guide, Vang (I hope I have his name right!). He was incredibly hardworking and passionate. He shared insightful stories throughout the journey and took great care of us. As a bonus, Vang is a skilled photographer! He knows all the best angles to make you look both beautiful and slender in photos – a wonderful talent that gave us stunning souvenirs. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Luang Prabang!

5.00Absolutely loved this private, full-day tour of all the special sites in this UNESCO world heritage city. Thin was a great guide whose English was phenomenal. He customized the trip as I wanted, suggesting ways to avoid the crowds. During the hot afternoon, it was a godsend to have an air-conditioned van with very safe driver take us to the sites further away, with ample cold water and refreshening towels provided at every stop. Highly recommend this tour at the beginning of your stay to get a foundation in the rich culture and history of Lao PDR.

5.00We really enjoyed this afternoon tour, our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English and was very patient as we went at our pace. We saw some amazing views over the city and some beautiful temples etc . Would highly recommend the guide and the tour.

5.00We had a great private full day tour of Luang Prabang with Mr Thin. The national museum was made more interesting by all the information given by Mr Thin. We visited the well known temples and had some nice lunch next to the river. I would highly recommend doing a private tour so you can see this laid back destination at your own pace and ask all the questions you want.

5.00My family and I had a wonderful experience with Boun and our driver today. We loved learning about Lao and Buddhism history and cultural practices from a highly knowledgeable guide. He has a very good heart and is a kind man. I would recommend our tour guide Boun to anyone. We did the morning tour, which included the almsgiving ceremony at dawn, followed by sunrise at Mount Phousi, a brief breakfast break back at our hotel, before they picked us up again to go to the National Museum / Royal Palace, Wat Xiengthong, and Wat Sensoukharam. Water and herb-scented cooling toilettes wear generously provided and much appreciated. Booking with Manifa was easy, and even when we needed to adjust our booking date, it was easily performed.

4.00An enjoyable tour. The highlights of the day were finding out and trying the different delicacies, the Royal Palace and the gorgeous Watt Xienthong . Mr Thin was our guide. He helped us understand more about the history of Laos and Buddhism.
