This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Gabriela comes from an Italian family. She learned to cook from her grandfather Ricardo, Tango Quintet Director and a Bandoneon player. She then furthered her knowledge under the Italian chef, Mario Maiollino when she ran her own restaurant, Ozono, in Buenos Aires. She is currently an art director and fashion photographer, and worked and lived in Brazil for many years. Gabriela also enjoys traveling and says it always helps her improve her cooking skills and knowledge.
You will make few dishes such as focaccia with salami, mini provoleta (gooey cheese), empanadas de carne tucumanas and carbonada (beef stew). You will end your meal with a dessert, budín de pan con canela y dátiles con dulce de leche (bread pudding with dates) or arrollado se dulce de leche (roll filled with dulce de leche), along with some tea or coffee.

Private Buenos Aires market tour (optional)
Private Buenos Aires cooking class with your host Gabriela
Local Argentinian wine pairing
Connect with Buenos Aires culture through food in this private, hands-on cooking class with Gabriela, a Porteño who learned to cook from her grandfather, a Tango Quintet director, and a former restaurant owner. In her stunning, modern kitchen in the iconic San Telmo neighborhood, you’ll prepare 2–3 authentic Argentine dishes such as empanadas, carbonada (beef stew served in a pumpkin), and a traditional dessert. After cooking, enjoy your homemade meal paired with local wine or beer while Gabriela shares stories about life in Buenos Aires. Vegetarian and special diets are accommodated, and the menu varies seasonally. If you choose the market tour option, stroll 10 minutes with Gabriela to Mercado San Telmo, a bustling local landmark. Explore stalls of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and spices, and shop for ingredients you’ll later use in your authentic Buenos Aires cooking class. This felt like less of a class, and more like a visit with a long-time friend. Gabriela's charm, warmth and enthusiasm immediately won us over. We skipped the market tour, and met her at her home, which she remodeled to her exact needs. The kitchen is large, and perfect for sitting, talking and working together. Each dish was fun to help make, and tasted wonderful. The wine flowed freely and paired perfectly. What a wonderful evening. Highly recommended for your next visit to Buenos Aires!

We had a wonderful market tour in cooking class with Gabriela. Her home was beautiful. We made empanadas and stew which we’re both absolutely delicious. Her empanadas were some of the best I’ve tried. Gabriela was so much fun and we really enjoyed the evening.
