  This was the most amazing wine tour I have ever been on. John has and amazing knowledge of wine and great relationships with the local vineyards. It was a wonderful personalized experience.

  Just had a smashing day with friends and John touring wineries in the Martinborough area. The day was absolutely spectacular and John put it all together for us. Very informative tour with great insights and information. Great lunch provided at Poppies and five diverse wine tastings. As a wine novice, learned a lot, laughed a lot and drank a modest amount. I can't recommend this tour highly enough and can't wait to come back.

  I highly recommend John’s wine tour. John is very knowledgeable about wine in general and has put together an excellent experience showcasing Martinborough wines. This is an experience for those who want more than just visiting tasting rooms. While this would be a good experience for someone new to wine tasting John’s knowledge and selective visits makes this a worthwhile trip for any level of knowledge and experience. I would recommend making a trip to Martinborough just for this experience alone. The day passed quickly but had a nice casual feel and never rushed. The personal touch of just John may wife and I made it pleasant. Value for money.

  This is a real gem and we would do a tour with John again. He had the perfect balance of small and larger winery visits,and a behind the scenes barrel room tasting with a local winemaker. The best lunch at Nga Waka. His knowledge on local and international wines/ history and winemaking is extensive and interesting. We were privileged in having this tour just with John and myself my husband. The time spent at each winery was perfect. John is interesting and easy to chat with. We highly recommend this tour, a highlight of our stay in Martinborough.

  Just book this tour. Don’t think about. If you’re in Martinborough for a few days definitely take this tour your first day. John, is amazing. Extremely knowledgeable, informative and a perfect guide for a town this intimate. My wife and I had an amazing time enjoying private tastings, gaining vineyard info from the growers themselves all while being chauffeured around. You’ll waste a day trying to gain the info John has about the wineries all while never experiencing his in depth understanding of the area, growers, and bonus food guide. This tour has grown my love for wine, traveling and people. The best part is John is local. You are supporting a professional in their hometown, what could be better.   I had a wonderful time on this private winery tour. From beginning to end, everything was well organized and enjoyable. John, my guide, was very knowledgeable about the Martinborough region and about wines in general. I learned a lot about New Zealand’s wine varietals, the local vineyards, and what makes this area unique. What I appreciated most was John’s friendly and flexible approach. The tour felt relaxed and personalized, and I never felt rushed at any of the stops. The pacing was just right, allowing plenty of time to enjoy each tasting and take in the scenery. The combination of expert insights, a welcoming atmosphere, and the beautiful surroundings made this experience truly memorable. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Martinborough who wants an engaging and enjoyable introduction to the region’s wines.

  A standout experience—from vineyard to palate! We had a fabulous time on a private wine tour with John from Wineinsights—definitely one of the highlights of Martinborough. We visited a number of wineries and tasted a wide range of fantastic local wines. Each place has its own unique vibe. Lunch was superb—local produce, great wine, and in a beautiful setting at Poppies. A really nice touch to the day was having a chat with some of the winemakers behind the scenes. The whole experience felt personal and thoughtfully put together. If you're into wine (or even just curious about it), this tour is 100% worth it. John knows his stuff. We left with a deeper appreciation of what goes into making a great bottle of wine. Highly recommend!
