Day 1:
Your journey begins with pick-up from any location in Muscat, followed by a scenic drive to Nizwa. Explore the vibrant Nizwa Souq and the historic Nizwa Fort, then continue to the charming old village of Birkat Al Mouz. Discover the traditional falaj irrigation system of Al Kattmyn and take in beautiful panoramic views of Birkat.
Afterwards, ascend to the breathtaking Jebel Akhdar mountain, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by stunning landscapes.
Day 2:
Begin your morning with a visit to Diana’s Viewpoint, then head to the impressive Bahla Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), followed by a walk through the beautifully preserved Al Hamra Old Village. Continue to the picturesque mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen before making your way to the majestic Jebel Shams — Oman’s Grand Canyon.
After taking in the views, relax on the drive back to Muscat.

Our tour guide will pick you up from your location in Muscat, and you will enjoy a scenic drive of about 2 hours before reaching Nizwa City.
Nizwa Fort Oman
Your first stop will be Nizwa Fort, where the entrance fee is 5 OMR (approximately 13 USD) per person, payable directly at the gate. Inside the fort, you can explore both the interior and exterior areas. Don’t miss the top of the fort, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Nizwa, surrounded by mountains and traditional villages.
Nizwa Souq
After exploring Nizwa Fort, your guide will take you to Nizwa Souq, where you can stroll through the traditional market and shop for souvenirs such as dates, Omani halwa, jewelry, spices, fruits and much more.
Birkat Al Mouz Ruins
After exploring Nizwa Fort and the bustling Nizwa Souq, your journey continues to Birkat Al Mouz Old Village. This historical site, once a thriving settlement, is now an enchanting ruin village that offers a glimpse into Oman’s past. You can walk among the crumbling mud-brick houses, explore the narrow alleys.
Aflaj Irrigation Systems of Oman
After visiting Birkat Al Mouz Old Village, you will continue to the famous Falaj Al Kattmyn, one of Oman’s traditional irrigation systems and part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed aflaj network. This ancient water channel has been supplying the village’s date plantations and farmlands for centuries, showcasing the ingenuity of Omani engineering. Here, you can see how the system still works today, distributing water through underground and surface channels to sustain agriculture in this desert environment.
Birkat Al Mouz
After exploring the Falaj Al Kattmyn irrigation system, we will take you to the Birkat Al Mouz viewpoint. From the top, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views overlooking the entire village, its lush date plantations, and the surrounding mountains. The contrast between the greenery, the old mud-brick ruins, and the dramatic landscape makes this spot one of the most picturesque places in the area—perfect for photos and a peaceful moment to take in the beauty of Oman.
Jebel Akhdar
After visiting Nizwa Fort, Nizwa Souq, Birkat Al Mouz Old Village, the Falaj Al Kattmyn irrigation system, and the Birkat viewpoint, you will continue your journey up to Jebel Akhdar. Along the way, you will stop at the famous Diana’s Viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the terraced farms and mountain landscape. Afterwards, you will proceed to Sama Jebel Akhdar Hotel for an overnight stay, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful evening in the cool mountain climate.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart and drive to Bahla Fort around 2 hours drive from Jebel Akhdar.
Bahla Fort
Bahla Fort one of Oman’s most impressive historical landmarks. This UNESCO World Heritage Site dates back several centuries and is renowned for its massive mud-brick walls, intricate watchtowers, and traditional Omani architecture. As you explore both the interior and exterior of the fort, you will get a glimpse into Oman’s rich history and cultural heritage. Don’t forget to capture photos of the fort’s stunning walls and the surrounding oasis, which add to its unique charm.
Al Hamra
After exploring the historic Bahla Fort, we will continue our journey to Al Hamra Old Village, one of Oman’s most charming and well-preserved traditional villages. Strolling through its narrow lanes, you can admire the centuries-old mud-brick houses, some of which are still inhabited, and experience a glimpse of authentic Omani life. The village is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, including the Hajar Mountains, offering plenty of opportunities for photography. Take your time to explore local craft shops, see traditional water channels, and soak in the peaceful, timeless atmosphere of this remarkable village.
After exploring Al Hamra, we will continue our journey to the picturesque village of Misfah Al Abreen, nestled on a steep slope at the foot of Jebel Shams and just a few kilometers from Al Hamra. This charming village is known for its traditional mud-brick homes, narrow winding streets, and stunning terraced orchards. Its impressive Falaj irrigation system supplies water to date palms, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens, showcasing Omani ingenuity in harnessing natural resources. You will have the opportunity to spend at least 1½ hours wandering through the village, following marked footpaths that meander through its homes and surrounding landscape, capturing beautiful views and experiencing authentic rural life. In the late afternoon, we will drive back to Muscat, concluding a day filled with history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.
Muscat
After the overnight trip, we will drive back to Muscat from Misfah Al Abriyeen, which takes approximately 2 hours, enjoying the scenic views along the way.

5.00This was honestly one of the best days of my trip to Oman! I joined a private tour with Oman Sharing Tours, and our guide, Mr. Amer, made it truly unforgettable. The way he explained the history of Nizwa Fort was so vivid that I could almost picture life back in those times. We wandered through the colorful Nizwa Souq, learned about the fascinating Falaj irrigation system, and visited some breathtaking viewpoints on Jebel Akhdar — real hidden gems! Mr. Amer was kind, patient, and full of positive energy. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and happy throughout the day. It was the perfect mix of learning, fun, and amazing views. Everything — from the itinerary to the comfort of the car — was handled very professionally. Our guide, Mr. Amer, was truly impressive. He explained the history of Nizwa Fort and the importance of the Falaj irrigation system in such a clear, engaging way. His deep knowledge and friendly manner made the experience enjoyable for everyone. The highlight for me was the visit to Jebel Akhdar, where he took us to some incredible scenic spots overlooking the valleys. The trip was well-paced, informative, and very comfortable. 5.00Kalphan took our family of five on the most amazing 4WD adventure. We saw locations that we’d never believed existed (such as Nizwa the stunning ancient oasis town) . We spent one night camping on the mountain top of Jebel Akbar and awoke to a glorious sunrise over the majestic valley. It was a once in a lifetime experience for our family and I’ll forever be thankful to Kalphan for all of his patience, kindness with our children, and 4WD and camping skill. He made sure every single thing we needed was arranged and went above his job requirement to make us very happy. We miss him and Oman already! Thank you - we are hoping to go back again one day. I 100% recommend this tour.

5.00I really enjoyed this relaxed but thorough introduction to Oman and the key sights a few hours from Muscat. Yassir was a wonderful guide with excellent knowledge of Omani history and in depth information about each of the sights we visited. In addition to seeing the places on the itinerary which were very special themselves, one of the nicest parts of the trip was the fact that Yassir went over and above to ensure my visit allowed me to interact with local people, share tea and coffee with people we met, and explore parts of the sights that were not on the beaten path. He always made a point of introducing me to people he knew along the way and the shop owners we ran into, suggesting foods and snacks that I needed to try, offering side hikes to less explored locations, and recommending experiences that he wanted to share with me. This included such things as getting to the Niswa Souq early in the morning to not miss the lively cow auction or the experience of visiting the Niswa wall at night because he wanted to share that visual with me or climbing up to an overhead water aqueduct where we shared tea with some local boys while standing 15-20 feet above the ground overlooking an oasis of palm trees and so many more. Omani Sharing Tours offered a really great itinerary on this tour and Yassir made it special. I would highly recommend this one.

5.00An amazing trip, comfortable, fun, great food amazing sights. The mountains and the canyon especially, but also the forts and villages. A real experience of Oman and its geographic and cultural heritage. I really enjoyed the time with Khalil, he is funny, friendly, helpful, relaxed and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

5.00Wow, what a trip! We did a private overnight tour for 9 friends and family. We had 2 vehicles and 2 guides - Khalil and Yousef who were both fantastic - cool, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful - was a real pleasure being with them for 2 days. The tour was jam packed and took us to Nizwa Fort + Jebel Akhdar + Jebel Shams plus the beautiful lost villages of Birkat Al Mauz and Al Hamra. Everywhere was absolutely stunning but Jebel Shams has to be one of the greatest places we have ever seen - it's jaw dropping, do not miss this! We overnighted at Sama Hotel in Jebel Akhdar which was lovely - nice food and incredible views over the mountain! I picked Oman Sharing Tours specifically because they seemed to be the only company offering both Jebel Akhdar + Jebel Shams in 2 days. Am so glad I did! They also arranged our airport pick up for us as we were a big group - this really helped us as taxis are expensive from the airport. Highly recommend Oman Sharing Tours and this Jebel Akhdar overnight 2 day tour (incl Jebel Shams). Was just stunning all round. Thank you Ms Roda, Khalil, Yousef and team for a truly wonderful trip!!

5.00We had booked a three 4WD vehicle for my team work to go to the places of Jebel Shams or they called “The Grand Canyon of Oman”. We stayed overnight at Jebel Shams Resort, and we also booked a room for our three drivers, as we also need to be back at Muscat the day after. Our guides were very helpful. Highly recommend.
